A quick fix of the wiper transmission on a 2006 Saab 9-3. The symptom presented as the passenger side wiper not moving, but the driver’s side wiper worked as normal. This fix might not work for all problems, if damage is observed than the broken wiper transmission may need to be replaced as a whole instead of just the bushing for linkage arms. The bushings used may also be found a local auto parts stores.

My 9-3 both of the wipers don’t work is it possible this will fix it??
This is a great video. I really liked that trick of using a socket and a vice to push the bushing into the hole because it is hard AF to do it by hand.
Hopefully this fixes my loose driver side (rhd car), cause it smacks the A Piller trim.
Thank you!!
really helpful! keep doing more video about saab!~
Great video! After completing the repair tonight on my 2008 Saab 93 2.0T wagon, I just wanted to contribute a few points: I was able to wiggle my blades off by grabbing firmly around the wiper arm and rocking it back and forth. No PB Blaster or brute force needed, although your mileage may vary and I'm sure using the "right" tool is slightly faster. Also, the plastic covers over the 13mm bolts were slightly annoying to remove; the best tool is probably a sturdy pick with a 45 degree bend. Thin flat head will do but might scratch the wiper arm a little. I had a little trouble seating the new bushings back on and found that channel locks did the trick. Also, don't forget to re-seat the transmission assembly cover before bolting on the wipers. I got excited to test it out and had to unbolt/re-seat/and re-bolt the wiper arms. Overall, the repair took me about an hour walking back and forth from apartment to car, selecting the correct tools, in the dark in the middle of winter. Ideal conditions such as having a garage and the right tools all at hand, it should take you thirty minutes or less. Saved me $350 from the "honest" Saab mechanic in town. Thank you!!!
Great video, great precise step by step instructions. nothing left out. Thanks for posting.
Thank you, i bought the bushing at Auto zone for $ 3.99 , I did exactly as instructed, it worked perfectly in my Saab 93 2006.
Excellent DIY but Its keep popping off after a few hard wipes over a month or so. Any suggestions?
I have to do this fix on my car. I think I have all the tools and the parts, except one…I need a new little black rubber gasket that's under the "spherical bearing," as you call it. Any idea what that's called? Yours looks like mine and I can't a match anywhere online.
Great video. Mine decided to go out on me last night while under a downpour to make matters worse something ended up busting a huge chunk of the bottom of the windshield right by the arm, most likely the other piece coming loose. Total garbage design.
very very good way of doing it thx
This is exactly what was wrong with my car. Thank you for the video and more importantly the easy to find part number for the bushings, 3.99 at my local Auto Zone. I didn't have a puller, so I just put a punch on the shaft and gave it a couple whacks with my hammer after loosening the nuts (be care, one slip and it could break your windshield) and they came off. Really appreciate the video.
Thanks for making this video, really helpful!
Hello, your video does not show how to put the control arm back in the car after the new bushings are in place. can you please assist?
Thanks you very much for this video, it solved my problem on my saab 9-3, and thanks for The Amazon link, that small product does not excite in sweden and saab told me they could fix it for 220$ but thanks for your link it only cost me 8 $ + tax about 30$. Anyway thanks again for the tip and video! !!!!!!!
Thank you! This video was a tremendous help! I never would have solved this without your video – my go-to Saab parts vendor actually sells the same bushings you used, and their site mentions clipping off the "wings" but without your video and your technique for pressing the bushings in, I would not have got this sorted out. I owe you a beer!
Thank you for the video very helpful to watch. On my 2006 93 sedan my passenger side wiper also wasn't working. Took me about 15 minutes or less to get to it. I did't need to replace Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings. I just put my Wiper arm securely back on it. Tested out a few times and it hold pretty good. The only tools that i used was 13MM socket and a mini pick screw drivers and just strong arm to get the wipers off:)))…Good luck.
just followed the video instructions and replaced the wiper bushings on my 2008 Sport-Combi. Had to spend about $70 for parts I didn't have (puller /torque wrench/ pick set /end cut pliers / lithium grease and bushings) but I've got them now (and I learned something, too!). Really appreciate the How-To, On The Workbench. Great VIdeo!
Huge thanks. I tried the otherwise recommended 44996 (IIRC) and they just crushed when pressing them in. This worked much better. Thanks again! 2007 9-3 aero.
Thanks. Just had the plastic parts break and your video clearly showed me what to do.
Much appreciated! Thanks indeed for your time, effort and knowledge! 🙂
This just happened to me too…so very timely :). Did you do anything to the bearings before pressing the new bushings onto them? What holds those new bushings in place? Thanks again!!
Hey!I really appreciate your work on those Saab 9-3! I am a huge fan of Saab, it is been more than 10 years. However, I just owed my 9-3 for half an year. Now I have driven my car for 5k miles, and it is the time for me to do some service, actually, I just finished the service for oil change yesterday. And I really want to know more about how to do other maintenance to the 9-3, and I found your video, it is very clear and helpful! Hope you can do more video about 9-3! Please keep doing that! I will always be there watching your new videos!!!
Again!!! really apprecaite what you have done for the 9-3
You literally posted this on the very day the transmission arm for my passenger side broke off. Thanks! Can you remove the passenger wiper without a puller tool?
