yo this is a great video…for years, i didnt know i could remove the washer fluid thingy, nor that battery thing. it was always a struggle replacing the headlights on that side of the car….

7eregrine says:

Thanks! Didn’t realize the Washer hose popped out so easily. Who on earth would thumbs down this video? Idiots…

Mad Morrigan says:

Unfortunately we only have this video which applies to 2003-2007 9-3’s. The process is very similar though you use a H11 bulb instead of the stated H7

Mad Morrigan says:

Saab USA parts dot com. Sounds like you need the tail light circuit board

Mad Morrigan says:

If your 9-3 is a sedan from 2003-2007 yes the H7 is the correct bulb. Convertible 2004-2007.
But I assume your 9-3 must be between 2008-2011 which is H11 bulb. Sorry for the confusion. This was shot I while back.

jeff darnell says:

i also have this issue. 2005 saab 93 linear, both little bulbs are burnt out. manual says they are called side lights, and also very low visibility at night.
did replacing those fix the issue? from pictures and looking at the bulb it doesnt seem to be anything more than a drl and very low output, but figured id ask.

erichsh58 says:

Thanks for the video! I managed to get the job done myself after always paying to get it done before.. I wish I knew how to prevent the low beams from remaining on at all times, I might get a bit more life out of them.

bflo716 says:

Hey, there is a very very small light bulb in the Saab headlights that are between the high and low beam bulbs. It’s similar to a marker bulb but is always on when the car is on and also it turns on when you press the light button on the Key. How do you replace this???? Please message me ASAP!!!

Karen Brown says:

Great video. Let me add that my ’06 9-3 has Xenon lamps, so the interior of the assembly was a little different, but I figured it out. Glad I watched this, though.

Chris Kassotis says:

Great video. However, I have a 2008 9-3 that doesn’t look like the example that you showed on this video. Do you have a 2008 specific video that shows how to change the headlights? Any information would be appreciated.

tjwhoistall says:

Thanks so much for the video. We replaced the light easily with your help.

Briguy says:

Great video. Wouldnt know how to access otherwise. Just want to point out my bulbs were H11, not H7 as stated in the video if it’ll save anyone a trip to the store.

tombalas says:

Thank you for making this video. I just changed out both low beam bulbs in my 2003 9-3 in a matter of minutes. I didn’t have to remove the secondary air injection hose (though it would have been easier had I done it the way you recommended – but my hands are small, so I could squeeze in there), and since I was only changing the low beam bulbs, I didn’t need to remove the fuse box. Your instructions made it a breeze – I very much appreciate it.

zboy1lira says:

My right rear light dont work. and my connector housing looks burnt how do i fix this or do you know where can i buy this parts because i ask at three auto part stores and none of them sell them?

XXSILENTVOICEXX says:

I just gotta say, the closed captioning on this is HILARIOUS! “I am an alien to evacuate another how-to video” “pull it up to a jew” “the headlight bulb belief is an attractive one-way visit” “z demille” ???? really, really awesome. I mean… wow.

BuildHardMuscle says:

Thanks Andy, your responses really helped.

The head light weakness on my car was due to the bulbs not being seated right and I also used a lens restore kit which brought back all the brightness!

Mad Morrigan says:

Look in your Manual under fuses. That will tell you where and which fuse. There are three fuse boxes. One with the engine above the battery, one in the cabin drivers side, and one in the trunk on the left side

Mad Morrigan says:

Look to see if your headlight assembly lenses are foggy. That can be remedied by a restore kit. Most shops do it. Also your headlight bulbs my not be seated properly in the headlight assembly. This is quite common when people try to replace them on their own. The tab on the headlight bulb base must be lined up to the assemblies’ slot to seat proper.

2004 SAAB 9-3 LINEAR – SEDAN

There is a small lightbulb on the headlight fixture that seems to be on all the time as a “DAY LIGHT” would. Well, that light is out and my headlights are very weak at night UNLESS I have the high BEAMS on. How do I replace those? – Do I have to replace the whole head light unit?

Also, DOES anyone have low visibility at night with their SAAB like I do??
How can I make the head lights stronger??

mschor1 says:

Thanks Andy for these videos. Can you tell me where my foglamp fuse is on my 2003 9.3?
Thanks in advance.

Montalas says:

Great video! I just changed both low beams that went out within a week. Your video made it easy.

One note: On my 2005 9-3, the high and low beam locations were reversed. So the low beam with the larger boot cover was on the outside of the vehicle, along with the flasher bulb. The high beams were by themselves toward the center of the car. Once I realized that, everything went smoothly.

AvocadoAtrocity says:

I wound up removing a bit of that black bumper piece to get the light. That entire assembly just slides (cant remember in forward or back) and then pops out.
I had to use a screwdriver that I covered with a cloth to pry it out.

Mad Morrigan says:

That is the simplest bulb to replace. Just pop out the orange assembly and there you go. Note: sometimes water would get in and corrode the bulb socket. You may have to replace it.

Mad Morrigan says:

Check the fuse first and then inspect the headlight connector as I stated for a previous comment.

Mad Morrigan says:

When you replace the h7 bulb do the bulbs work? If not check the headlight connecter for they are known to corrode at the ground connection (the two brown wires that are together). If that is the case you can order new low beam/headlight connectors from like Saab USA Parts website. Then splice them in.

LaylaPoes says:

I want to change the headlight direction from UK to Europe, left-hand to right-hand drive. I’ve done that before in a Volvo C30, which was a simple switch in the headlight assembly. How do I do that in a 2006 Saab 9-3 sedan? A dealer told me that only they can do that, which would cost me dear and would also be highly impractical as I often drive to Europe and back.

Maciej Płonka says:

Hi, Thank you very much for uploading this video. Thanks to that video I was able to replace headlights in my saab 93 2003. Thanks, I appreciate that.

AvocadoAtrocity says:

How the hell do you get to the light on the bumber? The marker light in the front right bumber by the wheel towards the front of the car????
Please help!

msbamafan100 says:

I replaced my left side headlight blub and it still won’t come on. I’m not getting any power to the connector. What do I do now?

Michael Clark says:

I have a 2006 saab 93 T and I get the “Left low beam failure” warning on the SID. I’ve tried changing the bulb twice now with no luck. What could be the problem? Could it be a bad module? how can I trouble shoot this without having to take it to the dealership. The closest dealership is like 3 hours away and I really need this fixed. I’m pretty handy with cars so if it can be fixed at home I should be able to do it. Any advice would be very helpful. thanks

PapiPaolo says:

Andy, I have a 2008 9-3 and I am missing my grille emblem. Do you know anyone who can sell me one without me having to buy the whole grille assembly? Thanks

Mad Morrigan says:

I would recommend removing the headlight assemblies. You have to be very careful with zenon’s.

Mad Morrigan says:

Open the drivers door and look at the inner left part of the side of the dash. You will see an access panel for the fuse box.
Also if you replace a turn signal bulb and it still blinks fast, change all turn signal bulbs on that side. Check the new bulb connection as well.

MacSaab93 says:

I have an 06 with xenons. Is the process the same?
