This video shows how to remove and repair the CD unit in a Saab 9-3 (model year 2004). The repair is focused on a problem where the CDs do no load, or are stuck and do not eject from the CD player. You could also use this video to get to the point of disassembly required to replace a failed laser (since we have to take most of the unit apart).

Yes changing mechanics to a paired electroics works fine thats what I did, but that broke too so ended up repairing the original
which lasted about a year in the endI used the broken doner unit to make a fiber optic link and removed it altogether when I get round to it i'll fit an after market stereo instead
