You are right about the awl. I always rant about using the right tools for whatever job, so I don’t really know why I went to the kitchen drawers instead of the tool box….
also works on 2002 9-5. the cork screw only mangled the key fob, but using a mini awl (which came with a small, very cheap “tool kit” i got as a gift) did the trick.
thanks for posting this.
Thx! I tried pushing a pin in that hole before, but I wasn’t sure that was the right way to open it because it was so hard. Because of this video I found the courage to try harder 🙂
1. Insert the new battery under the two contacts and then press down to secure the battery under the retaining heel.
2. Fit the cover.
Important
Make sure the lid is fitted correctly and is properly sealed to comply with waterproof requirements.
3. Press the remote’s unlocking button at least 4 times to synchronize the remote with TWICE.
Note: The car must be within range when this is done.
4. After synchronizing, the direction indicators should flash when the remote is operated.

Thanks a lot. That is not easy. Had to pry the lid at the same time as pushing in.
Thanks, Mate. Saved the day, and me from buggering it up.
I’m glad you found it useful!
Totally cracking and well put together – saved me money & pain! – many thanks
