Ecm hausing must be grounded.Or will not work, its a Opel system.

Brandon Dorsey says:

I had the same problem, opened up the traction control module, resoldered and high temp sealant. Problem hasn't been back in 2 yrs
Edit: hit all the pins and blow out any debris with air in a can. There is no moisture. Also, you don't need a tech 2 tool to mate it.
Also use some dielectric grease on the connector pins

Phillip Lopez says:

It is not a russian fix if there is no burning oily rag involved .

myko freder says:

Viewers with some knowledge who have hit a brick walls or the extent of their comfort zone and bring their cars in, usually bring in good problems.

Thompson Jerry says:

The 2006 v6 ecu is unique to that year, the high speed can is failing. You can marry the used ecu, but will need a tech 2 and this 2000. I think xemodex is repairing this problem.

Brian Perkins says:

All Saab ECM's Must have there Case connected to a solid ground , I noticed you tested the EBay ECM by resting it on top of the engine that will never work.. as the ECU refrences ground through its Case , This applys to all the other modules on the cars CAN network's including the ABS/Tracton control module. Called (The Electronic Stabilty Program or ESP system by Saab) .. yes I found that out the hard way years ago.. .

Patrick Barber says:

I have a fiat croma which was meant to be a Saab built with the same chassis and maybe electrics has the same code for the traction control and abs due to a broken wires on a wheel speed sensor and it starts and runs fine

Russell Hltn says:

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed in that powers all checked out. I was developing a hunch that the computer wasn't being put to sleep causing it to fail to wake up properly. I guess that theory failed. At this point, I'm suspecting the EC's "reboot on power up" function is failing. It might be worth cracking the case to see if the problem is a simple and obvious board repair.

Josh Benney says:

Nice job on temporary fix on the keep alive memory on those saabs. Never liked them as of their ugly features and shape lol. Gotta be the ecm home wonky! Let's see what you come up with in part 2!!

Bill Neu says:

Merry Christmas to you, and your wife. Never miss your videos, you are one great instructor Bill N LI NY

oracle wisdom says:

looks like the ABS fault is shutting the ECM starting system down for safety reasons.

DaddyBeanDaddyBean says:

In the late 90's to early 2000's, a college buddy worked at one of the bigger garages in State College and was affectionately known as Saab Guy – he had a knack for them, and all of the Saabs that came in were automatically assigned to him, as he seemed to be the only one who could figure them out. Good times.

Scott S says:

Those Saabs have the dumbest key cylinders. I'm an automotive locksmith and had to repair many of them. Being they are between the seats people would drop all kinds of garbage that would find their way into the cylinder and the key wouldn't go all the way in. Drivers seat needs to removed to take the cylinder out. I haven't done any of the transponder ones so maybe they are Fobik now?

lvsqcsl says:

I hope this car doesn't have enough wrong to warrant 7 parts. Great video!

lvsqcsl says:

When I think of a SAAB I think of a 900 on the old 99 chassis. This car is simply a rebadged Vauxhall Cavalier or an Opel Asconda. I love it when you do Russian repairs, Ivan. I have been trying to get a good radiator for the ol' Mercury from Flea Bay. (As Eric O. says.) I hope you have better luck. I think you should try Flagship 1. Great video!

John Lenoir says:

Very interesting that the wiring does not match up from what they say it's supposed to be to the harness don't understand that too many damn computers trying to talk to one another I reckon that's the problem

Old Mercedes s/w 124, and almost of grid living says:

Hi, Ivan , this came to my mind, (ok few romandcola in my head also) but do you think cars can be autonomiclly drive on public roads, by some AI , when you are fighting with all those computer problems in these "modern" vehicles. And also in snow on roads, when cameras cant see markings on roads.
For me , dont believe its possible in decades, with this tech we have. When those are working, they help drivers, maybe? but drive , no in my lifetime, I hope.

cabdriveruk says:

Those Saab's are famous for faulty ignition switches, people on youtube wiring a switch to the fuse box so they didnt have to keep pulling the battery cable off and on.

Sarmad Aldulaimi says:

I've seen this engine computer in many GM cars and it always fail ….. Great video .

hightttech says:

"SAAB" is Swedish for "chronic masochism"

John T. says:

Love your work Ivan.

John T. says:

Sucks that the Ebay ECU was marked as tested and good. Hopefully they get their money back.
