Kicker DS35 Dash Tweeters For The Saab 9-5

got these as an upgrade from the mediocre stock harman/kardon speakers. well worth it for the sound, but the speakers themselves don’t fit that well, so i pl…

Thank you for this video, was planning on doing something like this myself
and this helped a lot of what kind of speakers to choose :)

lineartechbd1600 says:

you might also want to put one of those new boxed speakers into the center.
i mean, you already bought them so why waste them. i think this will clear
up the front even more.

cougar Lorett says:

are the bass on these good?

Sansui350A says:

Actually, running a 4 ohm load on a 2 ohm system will make the head/amp run
COOLER.. less current required, hi-fi shit operates cooler on higher
resistances vs normal raw electrical shit that runs hotter on higher
resistance. Do your research..

lmull3 says:

i doubt i’ll replace the other speakers at this point. in that car it’s not
worth it. i will, however, get speakers that fit in those grills properly.
there are some boston acoustic ones that fit right and aren’t nearly as
bright as the kickers are. kickers are wayyyy too bright, but they have
great midrange because of that driver below the tweeter.

jake cantley says:

nice when are you gonna do more bathroom stereo videos

Nathan Panter says:

For your backs get the ds40 did it today little small on the outer part burn

rebelyell22 says:

those are coaxials not tweeters

lmull3 says:

that’s essentially what was done. a hardness was made out of the old
speakers.

lineartechbd1600 says:

you need to desolder and de rivet the wireharness connector from the old
speaker. you can do this without damaging the factory speaker so they are
still able to have the harness put back on them if you chose to do that i
did this with some rear honda speakers. you can even drill a hole into the
new speaker basket and mound the harness connector if you want to take that
extra step i just left mine hanging loose . just wrap it with tape so they
don’t short.

Clancy Mason says:

That’s not true at all, bud. The higher impedance of the kickers will pull
less power from the amp. If anything, the amp will run cooler, and lower
the danger of a fire.

mattluvsvox says:

well i mean its worth it for any car, seems like ur deck is aight. but im
tellin ya, polk audios will be able to fit under all of your grills, and
they are the toughest best quality ive ever heard. im gonna make a response
i want u to see my buddies

lmull3 says:

this setup is no more. got rear ended and the car was totaled, so, don’t
have to worry about it anymore.

Nathan Panter says:

And thumbs up for the same year my 95 is!

Nathan Panter says:

But ifs drill into the plastic it will fit

lmull3 says:

they’re tweeters…they don’t produce bass

x610modern says:

How do I figure out how many ohms my radio is pushing?

lmull3 says:

that center speaker is pretty useless. not worth the effort or the money.
those boxed speakers are too small like i said in the video.

mattswestone20 says:

lol really dude? u got that ass backwards, the only way that theres any
danger, and its usually just frying your amp is when the speaker has less
resistance than the amp is rated. you can put higher resistance speakers on
all day

cougar Lorett says:

oh wait ya haha nevermind

lmull3 says:

i’ll look at some polk audio stuff, but in the end it’s gonna come down to
price.

mattluvsvox says:

well so far my friends that are my age have been able to easily afford
them, and idk about boston acoustics car audio to be honest, theyre
supposed to be top notch but idk, only heard home audio from them. polk
audio is affordable and on a stock stereo with no amp youll never blow them

lmull3 says:

loved this car. it’s no longer with us unfortunately. got rear ended and
totaled. now i have the wagon version!

mattluvsvox says:

you know those kickers are indeed full range speakers? its got a woofer on
it…btw when you replace the other speakers, go with polk audio, i swear
to god its the best speaker ive ever used

billyfarted225 says:

Just so you know ur radio is pushing 2 ohms and if you put a 4 ohm speaker
in its place u could cause a fire in ur car.. And yes this is a bad idea
sounds fine now but you will blow the speakers fry your outputs on ur
headunit or your wires will get to hot melt catch fire..

ToxicWaste says:

why not go 2way mid high? Instead of an combination speaker? That way the
grills will fit.
