Thanks for the upload. I would like to add something if you don’t mind. I noticed when I was testing the roller out that the ball came out of the joint. I was looking around and people have said to pinch the ball and joint in until you hear 2 clicks instead 1. I did that with both rollers with 2 clicks.

Bill Snethkamp Dodge in Lansing was a former Saab dealer, but they still service Saabs. However, if it’s a window repair you need I’d think twice about taking it to a dealership. BOTH of the front windows in my 2001 9-5 wagon were broken so I took it to them. They charged me almost $400 to do the driver’s window, so I told them I didn’t want the other one fixed. After watching this video I am going to try the passenger window repair myself.

@Ericthecarguy were is a dealership at? I have a 2001 9_5 turbo wagon and was told in Michigan there were no more dealerships. please help. I’m gonna take mines apart after work to make that’s what it is. Thanks for your time and great video. I Love my 9_5….lol

Fredrik Linnander says:

Thanks, just saved me a fortune!!

Jonthan Salari says:

I’m gonna try this next week with my 2003 9-3 Saab and hope it works lol

please make this video for the 03 volvo S60

jockas1 says:

That is incorrect, the side airbags are activated from the SRS control module via g-force sensors.

Luke Martin says:

This is a great tutoria Eric thank you! I did it on my driver’s side door and it was almost identical. There are 2 small differences. 1 is that the mirror selector and director is attached to the top black molding piece. I just left it in and once the molding was detached from the door, just moved it out of the way with the wires still attached. The other difference is the buttons for the gas tank door and trunk. The connectors for these just pop right out! Other than that, exact same thing!

grayson burlingame says:

the rubber door vapor covering is for the side airbags due to it using air pressure not G forces to activate

lusytron says:

Just a note for somebody who may try this, the metal clips should NOT be removed from the green rollers before installing, they’re designed to be left in place so when you pop the arm in they lock, and it’s a pain to try to get them in after the fact.
Also, be aware that there’s a some plastic/rubber guide that sometime falls off, that is supposed to hold the glass in place in the side guides. I went through this once and had to do it again because the windows fell off the tracks.

daekol says:

To answer to your “question” in the video if u have to pop out that little plastic piece next to the rearviewmirror. No you dont have to pop it out but it sure makes it a little bit easier. All you can do is to use a little bit of force and drag it out and it will pop loose. 😛

Shawn Orion says:

The green plastic piece is Saab part number 44 93 433 window regulator roller

Shawn Orion says:

Thanks A bunch Eric! You help a lot of us out!

Z0bbster says:

Thanks very much for this video – you just saved my father a fortune by showing us how to do it ourselves!!

RyanTritini says:

Hey Eric! What is wrong with my window? It sounds like a machine gun. It will not go all the way up. there is about a half an inch gap. Regulator?

vvodonos1980 says:

Thank you for posting this clip! My 05 Aero started doing that yesterday so I need to mend it this weekend.

Ep1cSurvival says:

Quick question! My saab 9-5 has this on the drivers door! SHOCKER! Can you tell me what the part is called?

Carey Parks says:

Depends on the size of your hands perhaps. I did mine by lowering the regulator to the position where E put the rollers back and R&R’d the rollers. Was it easier? Perhaps, since clipping the clips was the hardest part.
One extra problem I had was the rubber track inside the door was pushed out of position when the window fell. I put that in after the window was back and fully up. it slides into the larger metal slot, small side to the outside of the door. Be sure to push it up fully.

esquire2K11 says:

This just happened to my 9-5..

CashMoney says:

Made it look easy…

Only guy I want working on my car is a fat guy>

Renee Mason says:

Thank you SO much, EricTheCarGuy! Now I don’t have to open my door in the drive-thru anymore!! This only took me two and a half hours (one of the regulator arms was bent at a 90 degree angle ?&^!!! )….you are a wonderful man, man!! Now I’m going to tackle something called a blend door driver under the dash….ugh.

510markman510 says:

suuuuuuuuuuuuuuure it was already broken eric!

piffdaddy420 says:

stuck 1/4 inch from being completely closed i meant to say***
so many times it rained and my poor car got wet because it was such a PITA to have to close the window all the way. 80% of the time i would run out to my car before storm to close completely. but there was a few times i forgot and came back to a wet carpet.
Luckily i could put top down on sunny day dry it nice. so no mildew thank god
but now no need to worry bout anything anymore. my window closes no problem!I love cheap fixes! $2.50

piffdaddy420 says:

I got a Saab 9-3 Convertible, very similar to the 9-5. (except, ofcourse, it is convertible. lol)
well anyway, eversince i got the car the pasenger window would not go up all the way. always stuck 1/4 inch, would push it up by hand as i pushed the button to completely close it.
it wasnt until i watched Eric’s video on the Honda window runner. He said “Silicone Spray”. i ran out that night (1:30am) to walmart, grabbed some silicone spray ($2.50). has been working perfect eversince! thanks ETCG! 🙂

Robbmyster says:

Ok…next job…installing a saab cup holder in my 92 civic. So awesome! 😛

Volker Traudt says:

I have replaced the green roller guides without taking the regulator out.
Need to plug in the motor/switch connector to move glass up/down to get the 2 rails where the rollers run into a good position.
I inserted the new rollers into the rail first, put them where the ball end of the arm is, then push in the ball into the roller. Only tricky part is getting the clip on. I used needle nose pliers.

Would this be the same on almost any car?

jerome sampson says:

how do you test the motor if you have a bad switch? im trying to diagnose my power windows in my 2004 chevy cavalier.

Jessica Huff says:

I am in love with you (Eric & JXC) for posting this! I have not been able to find the part ANYWHERE! No dealers could get it, no parts stores could get it. I started to search Google and voila! The video came up and now the parts are on their way. =D Thank you so much!

KiranTaker270 says:

i had a worst situation on my golf iv as the driver side window regulator on the right as i live in the uK and motor had packed up it cost me £160 to put right, well the cables and the clips broke so BOOM! window went straight down and it didn’t come back up

killerqnz7 says:

Hey Eric, I took apart a window on a 2000 Honda civic and notice similar clips broken on the window track, does the dealer sell those clips???

jjrobs399 says:

i think saab was once owned by gm, maybe?

Michael Mac says:

$20 for two tiny plastic clips, “inexpensive” ???

GCTeleVision says:

So do you know how to remove a rear passenger side electric lock for a 2003 Saab 9-3? I have tried for ever. Mine is messed up and I have the replacement part but I can’t get it in. The window track is in the way of pulling it straight out and I can’t figure out how to get the window out. I replaced the front one, took the window out no problem, the back one is totally different though.
