There's something about old beat-up cars that's very appealing…they're like old scar covered warriors with stories of battles won and lost

Your art project on that oil pan is despicable. That oil pan should have been welded or replaced.

Either that stuff worked or it was loud because it was low on oil. I want to go with the latter

SAAB= SUMBITCH ALMOST ALWAYS BROKE

@nickpathoffman says:

The engine in this wasn't gm.. it was a modified/upgraded version of the previous ng900 turbo… yes gm heavy but most of it was saab. The problem with that engine… gm made saab decrease size of oil pan.. it made that engine prone to sludging…so yeah I would never drive a car with an oil light on. The oil light on any car these days only comes on when its pretty much close to empty. None the less the liquid Molly couldn't hurt on this car because of the sludge issue. I would change the oil and filter a few times (every 1 k) to make sure it cleans up. For a saab if you are going to mess with them yourself you need a gm/saab tech 2 with proper programming. Its essential for the saab convertible.

FYI.
■ LIQUI MOLY (LM) ENGINE FLUSH IS NOT A ONE TIME USE. YOU USE IT PRIOR TO EACH OIL CHANGE. USE LM SYN OIL IN THE SAAB. THAT CHEAP OIL YOU OPENED UP YOU SHOULD OF REMOVED THAT ALUMINUM SEAL. COULD OF ENDED UP IN THE ENGINE!!! HMM, I WOULD USE LM ENGINE FLUSH IN ALL YOUR ENGINES. NOT TO BE DISRESPECTFUL, HOWEVER THEIR ARE INTERNALLY FILTHY.
■ USING LM FOR 6 YRS NOW. THE EUROPEAN CERTIFICATION STANDARDS ARE WAY ABOVE STATESIDE S.A.E CERT STANDARDS. THE EUROPEAN CERTIFICATION STANDARDS ARE I USE LM SPECIAL TEC AA 5W 20 SYN OIL. THE FLUSH IS DESIGNED TO REMOVE ALL THE FILTH FROM THE CYLINDER WALLS, RINGS AND EVERYTHING ELSE DOWN TO THE OIL PUMP AND PAN. I CHANGE OIL EVERY 5K MILES . 1ST TIME I USED LM ENGINE FLUSH IT CAME OUT TAR COLOUR BLACK. EMBARRASSING. THOUGHT THE ENGINE WAS CLEAN.. NOW JUST A LIGHT BLACK COLOUR. TOP END I USE THEIR DI JECTRON (GDI ENGINE IT IS HERE) TREATMENT FOR THE TOP END. THE FLUSH IS SEAL, GASKET, RUBBER WHATEVER SAFE. OUR ENGINE IS SPOTLESS IN SIDE AND OUT. CHECK OUT THEIR COMPLETE LINE OF LUBRICANTS. OUR TRUSTY STEED IS A PRISTINE 2013 LINCLON MKX AWD. ENGINE IS A DURATEC V6 307 LITRE.
■ MICROLON. – AFTER 10K MILES I ONE TIME TREATED OUR MKX MAJOR COMPONENTS WITH MICROLON (microlon.com) ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, PTU (AWD POWER TRANSFER UNIT), REAR END, COOLANT SYSTEM, A/C, AND POWER STEERING RESEVIOUR. THIS IS OUR 3RD MICROLON VEHICLE TREATED. ROI WAS 6 MONTHS IN FUEL SAVINGS ALONE. SALE/ TRADE IN VALUES WERE EXCELLENT. MICROLON PRODUCTS ARE AMAZING. IN BIZ FOR 50 YRS. MILSPEC AND FAA CERTIFIED. EVERYTHING FROM THE MIGHTY M1 A2 ABRAMS BATTLE TANK TO TURBO OR COMBUSTION ENGINED AIRCRAFT.
■ WE HAVE 89K ON THE CLOCK AND STILL HAVE THAT INITIAL WONDERFULL NO REAL THROTTLE PRESSURE ULTRA SMOOTH POWRFUL LINEAR FRICTION FREE ACCELERATION. NO GROWING NOISES. 27 MPG. UNTREATED IT WAS 22 MPG AT BEST. WE RUN BP 87 OCTANE PUMP GAS. CHECK INTO ALL MICROLON LUBRICANTS. ANYTHING THAT RUBS METAL TO METAL THEIR PRODUCTS EXCEL.
■ MICROLN GUN JUICE – IMPROVED AN IMPRESSIVE 1/4" GROUPING GAIN @1K YARDS. SEMIAUTOS LOVE THIS STUFF ALSO. ACTIONS BECOME SMOOTH AS GLASS.
■ ENJOY THE SAAB. A GREAT CAR WHEN SAAB WAS SAAB . NOT NOW, ITS CHINESE OWNED. SCARY TO SAY THE LEAST.
■ YOUR FLEET OF CARS IS NEAT. ENJOY THEM ALL AND BE SAFE.
■ HOPE MY INPUT HELPS WITH YOUR STABLE.

@QuintonNG2000 says:

Just did an engine flush on my 9-3 Viggen. Worked like a charm. WARNING!!!! DO NOT RUN MORE THAN 15 MINUTES with the cleaning agent in your oil. The lifter clatter won't go away until after you drain the detergent oil out and refill with fresh oil. After about 20 minutes I was getting pretty demoralized as the tapping hadn't subsided, so I kept running it. Immediately noticed my water level start to go above where I am used to seeing it so I checked the engine temp and sure enough I was just a couple minutes from overheating! The detergent totally ruins the viscosity of the oil and it will stop lubricating properly. I probably caused more damage to my bearings than was necessary so don't make the same mistake as me. Still I am pleased with the results, my lifters have never been this quiet.

…44.26minutes of amazing thought processes… driving it with the oil-light 'on', 'liqui moly' say give it 10minutes so i give it more, silicone a hole in the sump, etc…[laugh or cry, or cry-with-laughter] life can be a 'sit-com'. life is good to those who dare. good choice-of car. i remember a convertible saab in 'seinfeld';…after his 'announcement of 'how to fix the oil leak', i can hear that bass guitar in 'seinfeld'. however; at-the-end-of-the-day; he has the last laugh by making a $profit. cheers mate.

@BW-kv9wj says:

The oil pressure light was on because it was low on oil. When u added oil, it turned off.

@davidwatkinson7122 says:

Saab 9-3’s suffer from blown engines from oil starvation caused by the oil strainer in the sump becoming blocked with sludge. Change the oil often & flush it every time. Also a can of engine restore at oil chain also really helps to stop timing chain rattle when cold. If the sludge build up is very bad, remove & drain the oil strainer & clean thoroughly.
The hood is probably low on hydraulic fluid.
