BRINGING My Saab 9-5 Aero BACK TO LIFE *Broken Blend Door Fix*

BRINGING My Saab 9-5 Aero BACK TO LIFE *Broken Blend Door Fix*

I own one car that is universally loved, my 2002 SAAB 9-5 Aero. The private jet for the road is great to drive but mine has been parked for roughly 2 years now. I drug it back out, but it’s been so long I have no idea what parts I have for it and what needs to be fixed next. All I know is theres a lot to do and since the interior seemed to be in pieces, starting there seemed like the right move. We’re going to fix the blend door arms with the upgraded parts, and install all the actuator motors that weren’t even attached!

Remember fixing the blend doors in my old 9-5. Nightmare…

You can also plastigage the rod bearings and swap in a new set easily while the pan is off, as long as the bearing wear is within tolerance, buying yourself another 200k miles on the rod bearings. Love these engines.

MassiveTrackHunter says:

Better get an oil pressure gauge on it. They are notorious for losing oil pressure through 3 o-rings you can easily replace by dropping the oil pan.
My viggen with 65k miles 2yrs ago, went from under 10psi at hot idle on 10w40, to over 20psi, just by replacing those 3 o-rings.
-1 Oil pickup o-ring.
-2 o-rings on the oil transfer tube that runs into the oil filter base.
The low oil pressure light does not come on until 7psi, by which time you are killing the rod bearings and camshaft components.
The 2.3 is wicked good, once you remove that from the equation.

I got a 02 95 arc with the same issues with the blend door but on the driver side no hot air comes out. A friend has tried to replace but the plastic piece broke. Can you give advise on how to replace the blend door on the driver side. Is there a video that you have done in the past?, or suggest one. I too am from Kansas. Thanks for your advise. Bryan

Hey, FYI that lip at the left forward edge of the under-dash cover is actually supposed to clip behind the carpeting. Keeps the corner tight with the dash and looks much cleaner and more flush as the carpet fits in the crease. Just figured I’d let you know, and also as it’s bothering my OCD … 🙂

What I’m talking about is the lip next to the screw you put in around the 15:13 mark.

Benton Smith says:

That’s a 2002, cut off for production was usually June for the next model year. They changed the mirrors on the 2003’s, same as the 9-3’s. Those are the old style mirrors. 2005 was the last year before they switched to the GM radio, although they improved the headlights and made the high HP engine standard

I have a 99 Saab 9-3 the defrost does not work it gets stuck aimed at the feet. I was wondering if you knew whether 9 3 and 95's had the same parts this might be my problem.

Hans Baar says:

When you took the glovebox out the glovebox cooler line was disconnected and after you installed it, didnt seem like you installed it then either
