02 Saab 9-3 Saab 900 Convertible Hydraulic Line Repair: Part 2

02 Saab 9-3 Saab 900 Convertible Hydraulic Line Repair: Part 2

This 2002 Saab 9-3 has leaked out the hydraulic fluid for the convertible top. In this video, I analyze the system to diagnose the problem. I spent a lot of time finding information on this and figured a video will be helpful.

harold flugleman says:

Do I have to release any pressure before disconnecting the hose? If so, how?

Mark Carrigan says:

Thank you! I’d been stuck for a day trying to work out how to manually release the tonneau cover- yours is the first video out of about 20 that explains that simple procedure, because the handbook is useless!

Jeff Snyder says:

Kyle, I am almost certain I have the same issue with our 01 9-3 Conv and usually have no issue tackling something like this, but this seems a little intimidating. How long did it take you to get to the point where you could see and work on the lines? Also, being totally serious here, if I drove the car from Indiana to NJ how much would you charge to do the repair?

Jeri Rhoades says:

I have a 2000 93 turbo convertible Saab. Top was moving slow, added hydraulic fluid but found a leak on the drivers side. Replaced line but now top not working even though the motor is working.. almost seems like the pump needs priming. Is this a problem? Did I let the fluid get too low? Please advise

Jeff Schmitt says:

Any chance you could do a video or show instructions on how to just top off the hydraulic fluid? I have a 2002 Saab 9-3 SE Conv.

James Judson says:

I've watched your videos over and over – it's so darn helpful – thank you! I've ordered the lines (I can only find a set of 4) and will give it a shot!!! Out of interest, did you replace all 4 lines or just the broken one? Cheers!

MARK #PASADINA says:

GOOD WORK :)))

Cleetus Hortinson says:

I have a 04 93 conversation and I want to replace the soft top hydraulics because they're shot does anyone sell piston rebuild kit and or seals for those ?

hugemans says:

Hi Kyle thanks for the video, clarified a lot. Used parts are scarce here so i was wondering whether the lines are interchangeable, except for the length ofcourse? In that way i can buy a slightly longer line than the one i would actually need, but which is available.

Chao Xiong says:

Awesome video man! I'm troubleshooting the same issue and found a line by the right trunk side had come off. Was it easier for you to work out all the lines through that back hatch where the roof comes down?

l00p digga says:

cool video, horrible music. lol

Radomir Micovic says:

Aooooooo, very very BAD AND FAST VIDEO

Jedi Knight Jairin Aiki says:

Great video, but seems like way too much work. If I had this same issue, which I don't because I own a '00 9 5, I don't trust myself enough to make this repair and donit right the first time. I'd rather pay a certified SAAB mechanic to do it for me.

DJ Ignas says:

Saab 900ng is not hydraulic, it is fully electronic. And you can’t unlock latches manually except you have SAAB tech2 diagnostics tool… This video is suitable only for 9-3og model.

moly1001 says:

Kyle, I'm drinking a beer in your honor! I hate to rip the trim from my baby ('02 Viggen) knowing I've not the skills to reassemble without it looking like a kindergartner dressed himself to go to school! Your video showing how you accessed the hose assemblies and connections gave me the courage to soldier on and tackle the project. I've identified the pb and have the replacement hose on order. Perhaps I'll have it completely reassembled in time to enjoy a bit more of the summer! THanks again, man

John FitzGerald says:

My problem is not with a bad line, but a bad sensor which won't permit top to go down. I'm trying to figure out how to track down which sensor has malfunctioned. Perhaps a Tech 2 will do the trick?

John FitzGerald says:

Helpful video. I think I've got a bad sensor. Anyway to trouble shoot which one?

Andrew Kinney says:

Having trouble getting my 5th bow to release from Tonneau cover. Is there a way to do this manually?

Caddi Man says:

Wow! Thats is the most not detailed video i have ever seen. Not to mention shitty ass filming and editing. But thank u for 7 minutes and 17 seconds of absolutely nothing.

shakira Deleo says:

Oh how can I do it manually?
