Dang….. That looks great!

Brian Henn says:

Not my car so it doesn't matter but I think a black Porsche would have looked good layed over the blue but offset about 3/16" so it would create a blue shadow or back-lit effect. It's a good looking blue, it just seems hard to make out against the silver and black.

While I'm not the least bit interested in doing a decal on my 986, I was very interested to watch the process for the use of a vinyl decal on other projects. Thanks!

Onan TheBarbarian says:

A quick note when doing the "2 Step Hinge" method as outlined here:

Make sure to double check the measurements and when satisfied with the placement, put additional "hinges" on each end and tear through them when folding back (2:28). You can also mark where the top or bottom edge should lie by using a horizontal tape line.

I usually hold my squeegee on the tape left on the car while peeling back the decal. Leave the torn through bits on the car so when you fold back the decal to squeegee, you can marry up the torn bits left on the car to the torn bits on the premask.

Doing this makes it a LOT easier to make sure the decal goes exactly where you want it to go.

Notice at 2:28 when the decal is peeled back in preparation for spraying / squeegee there is no reference mark (tape) as to where to place the decal back against the car, the decal can easily get off-kilter without a reference mark.
