Porsche Carrera 997/911 rear strut mounts replacement DIY.

Porsche Carrera 997/911 rear strut mounts replacement DIY.

My new to me Porsche 911 997 is close to perfect! However it needs one massive repair. The upper rear strut mounts are completely done. The symptoms of this issue was a severe knocking sound from the rear of the vehicle, even over the smallest bumps. The parts needed to repair this are relatively expensive but vital for a smooth ride and proper handling. Lucky for me changing out the struts on a 997 is pretty easy tho it is time consuming!

Good Porsche sells the entire set considering how malformed the drivers side was.

Driving after doing your own DIY is the most satisfying feeling!! I wonder if your car was heavily tracked and that's why the strut mounts were so worn? Or do you happen to know if they tend to fail after X amount of miles? Also could you make the fast parts just a little slower in the future, just so I can see the steps involved a little easier? Thanks for the DIY!!

Reza is not afraid of going all the way in on these repairs! Glad she's fixed now.

You probably just needed to replace the yellow part. Good job
