How to replace the water pump, the thermostat without a housing, and the polyrib belt. How to top off the power steering fluid. And how to refill the coolant back up with coolant while getting all the air bubbles out. $40 additional for the torque wrench. Low end of a water pump and thermostat replacement at your non-dealership car repair place will run you $1200-1600.

Polyrib Belt Bando Brand: http://amzn.to/21iCdcu (Model: 6PK2115 or 2115 mm long. So this fits a Boxster with AC since if you have AC, it needs to be longer)

Power Steering Fluid, Pentosin CHS 11S: http://amzn.to/1XkCjla (The stuff you must use in your Boxster for the power steering hydraulic fluid, make sure it is topped up)
Prestone Coolant (Buy this at your local store since shipping is usually prohibitive for gallons of liquids. Buy the full 100% version and mix it with half distilled water and half coolant since it’s easy to do and much cheaper than buying premixed 50/50)

washed my 99 boxster took it for a spin and i lost total power idiot lights came on.battery is brand new .I let the car sit for several hours tried to start it ,it started and then shut off.Any ideas.

Really good video and honest problem solving. Before the water pump broke, did you smell coolant? I smell coolant running down highway with ac on but don't see any leaks???
As a I type this I am working on replacing my water pump. I could take out 6 bolts but not the 7th one. This one is on the right side of the water pump and there no clearance to put my 10mm wrench or ratchet. got stuck and started to look for help on youtube. You mentioned it is the hardest one but I need more info about the custom tool that you made.
I bought a Gates pump for my Boxster for $100 and it was in much better condition, aluminum impeller and everything.
It still came with a crappy paper gasket so I used a new OEM metal gasket.

Replace the wobbling crank shaft pulley "at some point"!? Dude. replace it as soon as possible, nothing good will come of that and it's likely the culprit for vibrating and walking the water pump pulley off. Good news is you can replace it with a high-performance one very easily. Great video! thumbs up! good luck.

This question isn't about your video but I would like your opinion please. What do you think about interest earning checking accounts? I have been bouncing my savings account around with who ever is giving a bonus and I think this is the answer for that. The best APY if received with a savings account was 1.05%. I am just hesitant because I have never heard of them until tonight and it looks to good to be true. 5% APY is a big step up. My water pump exploded one day on the high way and there was smoke coming cause it was way too hot, but these porsche videos always will be help for the future!
Why am I watching this? I don't even own a Porsche 🙁
