Thanks very much my car had the exact same issue. It was driving me mad. I have drilled a 3 min hole. I’m just going to pack it with grease.

Never never never use WD 40 or any other silicone based lube on rubber fittings. It dries them out and they shrink. Use Corrosion-X. It will do the same thing, last longer and it won’t damage the bushings

My car creaked only in the summer. It just started up again so I followed the instructions and the creak is now gone. We’ll see how long it last. I popped a tiny hole in the seal with a tiny drill bit. I used silicone spray instead of WD40. I cannot see the hole but I will smear some silicone sealer over the area to seal it. If the noise returns I will use grease.
