Emblem Install – Porsche 911 991

Emblem Install – Porsche 911 991

You saw it, I saw it… my “PORSCHE 911” emblem on the rear of my car was wonky. It wasn’t installed correctly after my car was wrapped. With every challenge however, is an opportunity! An opportunity to work in my garage and make a video. So here it is… here’s how I mount emblems and now it’s looking the way it should! Enjoy!

As ever, thanks so much for watching my videos and supporting my channel. I do all of this because of my passion for cars and interacting with like minded car enthusiasts. Keep the comments and chat coming! More videos coming soon. Cheers!

Daniel Dougherty says:

Do you have the exact dimensions of placement by anychance? I deleted my 911 carerra 4s and just want the 911 like you have.

Griffomedia says:

I am thinking about doing this to the silver lettering on my Cayenne. I have a genuine set of black letters. I might floss the silver lettering off like in your video but then replace the black lettering over the old adhesive as a guide. Is the adhesive thick or do you think it will sit over it. That way the lettering will be bang on!

Gjpopecars says:

What are the dimension.? I mean how low form the top of the rear bumper and how many cm
Between each letter

Alejandro Rubio says:

Your car looks gorgeous !,,, but you have to try on more time! … you installed "991" too close to upper line. The space in between, must be equivalent to the height of the letters of "PORSCHE" (OEM sizing). Tip, if you go to your dealer , they have a special alignment template for rear Badges, borrow it from them and fix the problem very fast. I did it my self ! take a look to this alignment template on the following link at 23:08min . cool! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy2YDyt9_U8&t=1388s

Michael Schofield says:

James where did you pick up your black emblem. I’m switching out mine from silver to black, or dark grey to match the wheel on my racing yellow 991. Thanks James !

Simon Chadwick says:

Great job James!
You could have saved some hassle by keeping the "S" in place, as it's in the center anyway.
Or you could have razzed your 911 buddies by changing the emblem to "P O R S C H", which is how you pronounce it 😉

TheVidMarks says:

I’m surprised your meeting friends and that in America non essential driving hasn’t been stopped already

ecolyn says:

Prefer the car Debadged

Nick Murray says:

Almost straight! ; )

j v says:

Cheers, but the two 1’s are not spaced properly. They’re too close together and not italicized enough. Nick Murray’s sentiments about ghetto’ing P cars comes to mind!

Todd at stone_city_outlaw says:

Was that Ruthie's floss? You're flirting with danger.

Stuart Mackereth says:

Can relate so much to the annoying red plastic removal on the tape. I got so frustrated I ended up breaking my Carrera logo, and ended up spending a fortune buying the 911, Carrera and S badges all over again again from the dealer… Gawd… Won't do that again.

Yorkiepoocharlie says:

Good stuff. Microfiber is most effective and least damaging to the surface when folded in half and then in half again. You have 8 sides now. One swipe per towel side then move one to one if the other 7 sides.

Chris P. says:

Nice job! So much better!

FunWithAJ says:

Not to throw your wrap friends under the bus but did they initially apply the emblems/letters off or was it you who did? I'm just asking because I'd think a good wrap company should have had an eye for detail for this.

Rich at Five-Three Detail Shop says:

“Fiddly” first time I’ve heard that said. Great job on the letters, ELF 9 is looking GREAT! Keep the videos coming. Stay safe!

Mitchell S says:

Never noticed the issue. You did a great job! Black looks great.

Elliott La Porte says:

I want to switch my '911 Carerra' to the straight 911 (became much more popular when the 991.2's came out and looks far less busy) but my OCD demon is waiting in case I get it wrong. Watched so many previous YT vids from guys like Obsessed Garage who meticulously line them up (he did it on his GT3!!), but if I free hand it I know I'll always be wondering if it was slightly off. Like another guy said, I've heard the Porsche title curves slightly around the bumper instead of straight. It's a real shame Porsche don't sell the template guide as a part, like the Piwis laptop its one of the tools only the Porsche centres seem to be able to get their hands on. Would be so great if someone could create a PDF template of at least the common decals that you could print out 1:1… any chance you can put the word around and make it happen? I'm sure many Porker fans would want to shake your hand if you did!
