Permatex has a head gasket spray that says on the can.. good for -50 to 500F. spray on both sides of the head gaskets and let hang to evaporate the solvents for 10 minutes before setting them on the block. i have been using the base product called Hylomar since 1994 and have not blown a head gasket since..
the cooling system is the water pump. thru the water pump plates.. some timing covers need tubular seals to seal the water pump plates to the timing cover passages. some water pump plates need adjusting to tighten up the clearance with the impeller to raise the pumping ability.. the coolant goes to the rear around the cylinders.. up thru the back of the head and forward thru the heads to the intake crossover.. blocked by a closed thermostat it is forced thru the bypass that connects to the back of the timing cover and back into the water pump to go around and around keeping the cylinder and cylinder head temps even until the coolant is hot enough to open the thermostat. that allows the cooler coolant in the radiator to swap where that will close the thermostat. and allow the stopped coolant in the radiator to be cooled slightly.. the warm coolant in the block and heads is circulated. again picking up temp till the thermostat opens again swapping.. if you have an issue with the coolant not being cooled enough by the radiator. you have to go to a higher temp thermostat to keep the difference between ambient temp of the air and the coolant in the radiator farther apart to cool the coolant better. please pull a forward temp sender and hook up a pressure gauge.. when you rev the engine you should be building pressure above system pressure do to the closed thermostat and 7/16" opening in the bypass to the back of the timing cover.. might be 3/8.. its been a few decades since i built a Pontiac.. do you have a spring inside the lower radiator hose. to prevent it from collapsing do to suction from the water pump. some parts stores still sell them. ask a manager.. i wonder if the additional tubes you installed t the adapter .. was the thermostat below the adapter. if it was above the adapter there will be no coolant flow.. most of the tubes like you install catch steam bubbles that build up in the back of the block.. any coolant from those tubes would most likely be coming from the water flow in the block..

Keep guessing buddy. That might not be your problem but it might be. This 1000hp 4 cylinder we been racing has every hole blocked off but 4. 2 in back 2 in front it cools just fine. You think your cylinder temps are more then a little ass motor running 3 times harder? Js cooling systems suck. Good luck hope it is just a couple holes but maybe not. We have to vacuum bleed this thing to get an air bubble out of the head that gets stuck.

Open up your purchases at the time of delivery folks not when you get them home or at least at the stores, I’m receiving things I didn’t order, things that are indeed wrong, things that were returned, and items that are supposed to be in the package that are not….worse of all poor quality, bolts with partial threads (on axle u bolts), castings, (made in India with horrible pitting and sand voids),bad welds (on an upright compressor tank), voltage regulators (all six were defective), 4 deep cycle batteries (all failed in six months)… all replaced under warranty…bad rebuilt alternators diodes, (draining batteries)…on and on…
