When a simple water pump job turns into a nightmare on a Pontiac Firebird motor, I found myself saying WTF way too many times. Then I had to remove the timing chain cover to fix more issues that popped up. Follow along on this journey is part 1.

Wow can't belive you didn't cover up the opening to the oil pan immediately!
You my brother are a rock star if more people in this world will be like you and just do it they can great a lot more done keep it up you are doing a fantastic job
You didn't have to remove the timing cover and remove those tubes. The rubber "O" rings in them are replaceable. Just take a ice pick or similar tool are remove the rubber rings.
Broken bolt.. Crossover bolt from the timing cover to the intake!
Good work. Isn’t that a broken stud for the timing cover? One on each side.
That broken bolt should actually be a stud and a nut, suprised to see the pump divider plate missing.
I see doing all this in my near future, as well, on the installed 350. And I need to get two broken studs off my 400, too.
I need a case of silver bullets!!
Isn't that always the way it goes?
Dude! Cover that oil pan opening!
