Repair: Pontiac G6 Engine Light P0449

Repair: Pontiac G6 Engine Light P0449

Well this fix was pretty straight forward on this old 2006 Pontiac G6. It has a code P0449 Evaprative Emissions (EVAP) vent solenoid control circuit. This is a pretty common problem with theses cars and many other GM products. The test procedure is very standard. Hope you enjoy!

Ok, do you think this might possibly be a fox for P0455? I remember it clicking, and the second it clicked the P0455 (large evap leak) popped up. I think it might be clogged with sand or something

I have a p0446 and heard a whining nose whenever I accelerate. 2007 g6 gt. Think it might be evap hose?

Thanks so much for this video!! I have the exact same car (Pontiac G6) and had a vague idea where this vent valve was.
Now I know where and how to get this tricky part off my car, and put the new one on! My tank straps are just as rusty, hope they hold together
during this process so I can put it all back together.
Awesome video !!

Deborah hallett says:

I literally just did that same job on a 07 Malibu, the only difference was I had to undo the fuel filler hose to get it down far enough and I tested it for continuity before I put it up in took me a long time, but got it done!thanks to you!

13:58 You can just push the latch open by inserting a screwdriver from the front.
