You forgot to mention that you needed to the check and lubricate the
caliper slide boots and pins The caliper slide pins are what what the
caliper “bolts” to on the caliper bracket and allow the caliper to slide
back and forth. It the boots are loose torn or missing then the grease will
escape while water and/or road salt will get inside and cause the pins to
bind or completely seize up.

Many auto parts stores here in Ohio sell single use packets of caliper pin
lube for a bit over a $1 at the front registers or you can buy a tube
Sil-Glyde for $6-8 which will last home users for a decade or so of brake
jobs. Do not use petroleum based grease because of the high temperatures as
well as the fact that the rubber boots will swell up and deteriorate
allowing water, road salt, etc in and the grease out.

If the caliper slide pins are rusted solid in the caliper bracket then you
will likely need either a new bracket and a new caliper slide pin and boot.
Sometimes if you have a brake and muffler shop nearby you might been able
to get them to heat the pin up with a torch and remove the pin (if
unbroken) for $10 or so.
