In this video I will show you how to replace the rear disc brakes and rotor.I will show you how to push the piston back in the caliper so you can install the new brakes.I will also show you how to do this job with just some basic hand tools.NO SPECIAL TOOL REQUIRED.
Great info sir!
Question, you only have to move the piston in as you showed in the video, you don’t have to twist it back out to a certain point?
Thank you
Thank you! But what if I put the pads on backwards? I had a hard time getting the pad with the pin on it onto the back side, probably cause the piston wasnt lined up? But what can happen if this is the case? Also, the piston didn't seem like it was going in all the way, even though it was turning
Why does only one caliper pin have an " O " ring , and if you loose orientation of them during the repair which one would most likely go to the top position on the bracket.
Thank you Jim for the clear explanation. Obviously an experienced mechanic.
If Ray Romano was a mechanic…
Can you do a vid on adjusting parking brake on 1999 Grand Prix? Thanks.
Thank you very much for mentioning at the beginning that the rear piston CANNOT be pressed in like the front. Helpful video.
Do you have to turn the Piston back out when done?
I replaced both my front and back brakes, but still having a squicking noise! Any ideas? Thanks
have the same car and was wondering if I was to completely disconnect the emergency brake line will that affect anything? thanks
Best rear brake video out there for the 2004 – 2008 Grand Prix's. Thanks for that. We're looking to do this on our 2007 Grand Prix this weekend.
Just one question. Once you complete installing the rear brakes and put the caliper back on, does the piston re-adjust once you hit the brakes for the first time?
Thanks so much for the clear and detailed video.
It's the middle of the night. The piston won't budge
and Jim the Car Guy comes to the rescue once again.
Thanks for the comprehensive and nicely explained video. I would appreciate it if you would comment on the issue of lateral runout when replacing rotors. All the videos I have watched appear to leave out this issue. How common is to encounter this issue when replacing rotors and brake pads? Thank you in advance for your expert opinion on the issue.
amazing info. didn't know you had to line up the piston. all these years i didnt know. thank you!!
I had to do this yesterday
