Did this in my driveway to both wheels in about 2-1/2 hours. Bought (and returned after using it) a three finger gear puller from Pep Boys to help take the old hub off. Much less swearing that way. No impact wrench but had a hefty, long breaker bar and 29mm impact socket to remove the hub nut. Clean everything up really well while you’re in there and it goes back together with no trouble. Use the stated torque numbers for everything. My car’s a lot quieter going down the road now.
You could use a floor jack to make the repair.
Do you need to have it on stilts/lifts or can you do it with a simple 2.5 ton jack?
We’ll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future.
wwe need a rear hub bearing video now!
what if i wanted to change my cobalt to a 5 lug instead of a 4 lug?
Thank you for your order. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
This video was extremely Helpful!! We got the part from 1-A auto for cheap. We installed it in less than 2 hours and now The cobalt is back on the Road!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
If it’s really stubborn usually a 3-4 sledge hammer to the back of the flange will break it free. Just make sure that all of the bolts are removed and wear safety glasses.
I followed these directions for my friend’s ’06 cobalt, but the bearing hub is still stuck on. It’s a Michigan car. Think it’s a rust seal? I’ve tried heating it, banging it, and swearing at it, but it’s still stuck. What should we do?
