The Pontiac engine can be a little quirky compared to it’s small block chevy counterparts. The process to install an oil pump on a Pontiac engine, or really any other engine is basically the same for any distributor type car.
Install the oil pump screen, slide the dowel in place, and bolt the oil pump in place.
