What harness are you using and where did you get it? I have a grand am 2004 but I cannot find a harness anywhere.

cjmillsnun says:

Do you not use ISO plugs in the States? The same radio would come with ISO sockets in Europe. Then we would buy an adapter from the manufacturers harness to ISO plugs, meaning the whole thing is plug and play. No stripping or crimping of wires required.

Sounds like your constant power wire and ignition wire could be installed wrong. Or just a bad constant wire. Check all your wires

During the old school days…all you needed was a: Lighter, 9 volt battery, Light bulb. No diagrams or harnesses were needed w/ that method.

I installed a radio to my gf’s car, when i brought the cables together, i did them with black tape, the one that is very hard to come out.

My only concern is that ive seen some people using a lighter to heat up the tape after both cables are together, but i didnt do that at all. but i did made sure to tape them right, and put extra tape on them too.

the “remote” wire goes to a subwoofer amplifier and turns it on only when the car is on so it doesnt drain your battery. unless you have an amplifier, dont worry about the remote wire
