Cracked heads at the exhaust valves on these motors is a result of
overheating. The previous owner could have driven it on low coolant.
Replace the coolant elbows with the aluminum ones if it doesn’t have them
already. I did a comparison of LIM gaskets on the same motor. The FelPro
steel frame seemed to fit best around the ports. The GM aluminum frame come
in second. I suppose the plastic frame gaskets would be OK to use if you
stay away from DexCool.
