No, the anti-theft does not have to do with the car itself, just the stock radio head-unit. If you pull out the stock unit and unplug it, it will then stop working, unless programed with a code later. The car will be fine, you could pull out the stock radio and use the car normally, just no music. You will however lose the door chime system, unless you have a harness like i have in this video that retrains it.

gundamrx792 says:

question when you changed the radio was there any security issues cuz someone told me that if i tried to change my 2002 pontiac gran dam radio i would trip the anti theft lock out and the car would die

joseph brown says:

i have my interior painted the same color and i have tried everything i could think of with the knobs and found out to use a solid clear coat and a heat shrink gun then let them set for a few days before you touch them.

I have a 2004 pontiac grand am se1. Do I absolutely need the wiring chime harness or can go with out it.?

WarthDader74 says:

One of the best looking headunits ever….

Getting my car next year and been looking at this radio. Nice vid and you got a like for 6 foot 7 foot haha!

Daniel Thompson says:

I have a 2002 Grand Am GT and installing a Pioneer FH-X700BT. We cannot find an ignition switched wire. The stereo currently remains on until I loosen two wires. Not a car expert, where would I find this wire? We used a voltage tester and couldn’t find a wire with power while in “On” but off while in “Off”

Lewieville SlugR says:

yea I went to the wrecking yard and just pocketed some new ones…but just cleared the white off this time…

YouonPictures says:

Yeah tell me about it. You can tell mine look fucked up there. I keep seeing peoples online and im like, how the hell did you get em that nice! Thats why i haven’t touched them in my new GA GT yet.. =P

Lewieville SlugR says:

damn those cleared hvac knobs…I tried the hair dryer, boling water and the nail polish ways and still couldn’t get it to look good.

Lewieville SlugR says:

oops cant post the link….just google it lol

Lewieville SlugR says:

just remove anything you want to paint…clean the parts up good…if you want the parts smooth sand them, prime them, paint them, then a couple coats of clearcoat. I did the same thing he did but painted everything black instead of the dark grey stock interior
heres a site showing you how to take most of the parts out and everything

Shawn McWilliams says:

I have a 2001 GT with the Monsoon system… Do I really need the harness converter that crutchfield wants to sell for $50? Or would the Pioneer FH-X700BT come with something that would make do? And is the Theftlock really just a joke?

JayMoney707 says:

how much was your headunit it ?

Robert Stephens Jr. says:

Hey I really like what you did to your dash with the red I want to do that to my grand am but idk how to do it I was wondering if you could email me on how you did it

RME614 says:

Did you replace all the speakers without messing with the amp?

KPDExplorer Martinez says:

How long did Crutchfeild take to deliver?

YouonPictures says:

Check and see if you actualy have and amp in your car. I have a Grand Am GT now, and it does. Just open up your trunk, and on the left side of the trunk, pull down the carpeting from the left side wall, if there is an amp, it will be there mounted sideways

Roy Vargas says:

i have the same car , and i buy a sony xplod bu t the installer guy told me that the car has an amplifier and he need to sell me another piece that sends the signal correctly to thtat amp,,, but in the video i look that you dont put any other piece , so he try to make me dumb????

Mike Breezy says:

Are these good cars grand am 02

Stefan Rajamohan says:

Hey, I need a lil help. unfortunately the previous owner of my 2001 Grand am gt a did a really bad wiring job behind his cheap deck and now I’m paying the price for it. It looks like he hard wired it but it also looks like he has a wiring harness installed but the wires are everywhere and im confused on how he wired everything. He has also wired in a “line converter” (scorpian brand) and i would like some help if possible. I have done this before but on a untouched car so the wiring is clean.

Harrison L says:

I just used what crunchfield gave me, found a color wiring setup online and I messed up, I’m awful at installing stereos

YouonPictures says:

You shouldn’t be messing with any wires that are in the car when you do this… You only wire together the wireharness to the adapter that came with the head unit, and all you do is match the wire colours to each other. It should have nothing to do with your tail lights…

Harrison L says:

How did you know what wires went to which? I messed up so bad that my tail lights no longer work

Austin Larkin says:

How do you get your interior color like that? Spray paint

YouonPictures says:

I sprayed it red myself with Krylon Fusion…

Kaycee Leon says:

Did u spray paint it red or was it bought
