can you do these steps for a 98 grand prix gt
yes.
Can you do these same steps with a Grand Prix GT from 2000-2002??
Some people never use a tooth brush and have no cavities…to each his own. You can hand tighten it, but I’d rather use a wrench to make sure its tight…but not too tight.
who use a oil filter Wrench? ive never used one
Great video, it explained the process really well.
awesome how to.
I have an Pontiac Transsport APV 1993 year 3.8. Great engine. Thanks of this videos. Using only Mobil 5W50 and transmission and any fluid Mobil. Many years good flying in Moscow Russia.
Great video, thanks!
I have an 03 Bonneville 3800 and it makes the same noise also, and I haven’t figured out why. Seems to run fine though.
Your the man!!! Thanks for the video helped me a lot.
Great !
Thanks for the info.
MY OWN OIL…
perfect thanks! Its been about 10 years since i changed my OIL! THANKS TO THIS VIDEO, IT WAS EASY!
The other question I had was when watching this video I noticed that when you started the car there was I dont know how to describe the sound but a whine to it but died down a little, my sisters car makes that same noise but seems to be a lot louder and does not go away. I am good at understanding and fixing things but cant say I have done a lot with cars. But the sound is there is idle, and also goes up and down in tone when turning the wheel in park and driving
I like the detail of your videos, extremely help full. I had two questions, first is my sister has the same car and when I offered to help her change her oil when I was under the car had noticed that the bolt to drain the oil is slightly stripped and when I tried to get it off it was only making it worse, no help help that it is tightened about 1000 pounds more then needed. The trouble is that there is not a lot of room to work with. Any ideas how to remove it?
Totally an owner’s manual thing. This one you turn to on, pump the pedal to the floor 3 or 4 times and that does it.
How do you reset the oil change light in a Prix 02, 3.1 V6?
Location is the reason why they used a smaller filter, that’s clear but it is also the only reason, because its not a better filter. It was picked because grease monkeys need quick and easy. A large filter will fit, so why not use it even if it takes a few more seconds to put it on.
Funny, I use a strap wrench because my cap wrench won’t fit. Long story short, it doesn’t rub the frame. I wish lots of things were this easy to change on the car.
I couldn’t get my ordinary strap type wrench on it. I had to use my cap wrench that attaches to a 3/8 socket wrench. And I would say clearance is the reason they didn’t use the longer filter. Just a hunch
This is true, although I don’t really consider what should be there an “upgrade”. Engine design made them use the smaller PF47 when really it should have had the PF52 in the first place. It is tight but very doable.
Might want to point out that when you upgrade to a longer filter that it is harder to get a filter wrench on it!
15mm
what size is the drain bolt?
hey man dont use fram filters or as 1997fordprobe gt says the orange can of death and paper end caps replace that filter with a fleetguard filter or a k&n oilfilter
What a professional job, no spills.
Awesome video! Reminds me, I gotta do an oil change on my car, needs doing kinda badly! Looks much easier to change on that car than mine!
nice!
Frams work. my old cars had frams on them for years.. Not the best filter, But it works. All oil filters are going cheap, Even AC delco/ champion labs and their E core design filter.
LOVE these kinda videos SWEET SWEET SWEET!!! good call on the mobil 1! trans filter n fluid next???
good job very quick and simple
