Sorry getting back to your question late. Now it is tight you to have to lock out to remove the 3 wire connect to the chipset because its plugged in the back of the cylinder there is a little tab down inside take a pick and pull it back and it will pop right out. For this ignition job u need a curved pick, makes it easier.

How do I remove the 3 wire connector on top of the cylinder? It’s kind of tight in there

Hey do you have a contact number

Lastly , u could buy a used ignition switch and lock. Drilling grinding and not damaging the switch is the problem if u buy a used switch and lock there is still one problem there is a plug at the top of the switch which plugs into the lock chipset which cant be remove unless u remove the lock . So you either have to cut the two wires and reconnect with new lock but u must have to plug end for the new lock as well

U wont be able to replace the lock with key turning to run position. Now you have two options. First you can get a 5/16 drill bit and drill through the lock which will alow you to remove the key holding portion which will olow u to rotate lock with a tool. Or u can get a Dremel rotary tool with a small cutting or grind bit. Drive the cutting bit carefully into the the whole where the lock pin sets, grinding the pin down will allow you to remove lock even when not in the run position.

Would you please let me know what I can do if the key is not turning in the ignition switch. Can i still buy a used one and replace it on my Pontiac grand am 01?
