1998 Pontiac Bonneville heater core replacement

well I made this vid cause when I wanted to find a vid on it I couldn’t. I hadn’t done a heater core in a Bonneville before and thought I’d find one on here …

chances are, if they bypassed it. they cut the hose and put a plastic fitting to connect the 2 together. the old heater core is still there. now if they took the time to get the hoses off where they connect to it, instead of cutting. you won’t have to replace the hoses. but you still got to do this entire job here, remove the old one, install the new one and reconnect the hoses to it, and it will be back in business

i have a question how would i connect it back if its been bypass, i bought the car with a bypass heater core i want to put it back on before the winter months

I was checking that out, gotta figure out how to set it up manually, since I can’t be sure a different climate control unit won’t have the same problem. It’s the head unit because it will change but its temporary. Thanks for your help though.

RANS87IROCZ says:

look at 5:51 in the vid and watch, you will see the arm for the blend door, when I was done I switched from hot and cold and watched it work back and forth as I changed it from hot to cold, chances are if your motor for it is bad, it won’t move that arm, so you might be able to sneak a screwdriver in there and manually move it

hotrodhopp says:

Sure wish someone had a video on the blend door. My climate control is putting out hot air and I’d sure like to move the door from heating to cooling.
