Thanks for the video. I changed the thermostat on my ’02 Chevy yesterday. I
was reluctant to do it myself cause I have been reading about how hard that
bottom bolt was to get to but figured I would give it a shot. Yes, that
bottom bolt is a pain. I actually got the housing off without taking that
bolt out all the way but was unable to get it back on so had to take the
bolt all the way out anyway. I used the “left hand” technique to get the
bolt in position but wasn’t able to screw it in much. I used a long
screwdriver coming around the front to hold it in place then got my 13 mm
wrench on it and made the smallest of turns until it started. I finished
the job with a ratcheting wrench which really helped. It took a few hours
to get it done. My car is running at its normal temps now.
