Replacing a broken mirror back, repeater indicator, or mirror lens is very easy and if you use pattern parts, Very economical. So for me this draws into question the wisdom of spending £50, £100 or significantly more! on Protective over caps. Just a word of caution if changing the full mirror on the driver side- the temperature sensor (or lack of it) can cause lots of EML issues as shown here. https://youtu.be/EQq8t6jnvWE?si=n1REAmbbcz5QEox5 not an issue if you just change the casing like you did John.
