Hi, great video cheers. Could you help me with something? I need to change the starter on a van where the hex nuts/sockets have been completely rounded off. I've tried cutting a slot in the head etc, but cannot get it to move.

Question is: can i cut the head off the nut entirely? Basically need to know whether the section within the gearbox / flywheel casing is threaded or not… hoping not so i can just cut the head off the bolts to free the starter. Any help much appreciated

Hi mate I have a 307 2.0hdi 90bhp no intercooler so less hassle but is the clutch slave cylinder going to be an issue on my car when trying to remove the lower bolt from the starter motor

Absolutely superb, thank you so much for taking the time to do this properly. I have a 307cc HDi 136 and has just developed a rattle on startup. The garage (that fitted a starter motor last year) have told me it was likely to be the Dual Mass flywheel, and to expect the worst… but I thought I would just check the stability of the starter, which I was able to locate thanks to your guide. It was very wobbly! I have found that one of these bolts was GONE and the other two very loose. I will be tackling this properly in the morning, but just tightening the remaining bolts with my fingers (very, very slowly!) has fixed the problem. Its fantastic to see the frame and bolts so clearly in your video, and everything looking the same as my engine, although my battery is of course further back towards the firewall, and so I think I can get away with not removing it as all I want to do is tighten bolts, not remove the starter. Also I will have to work out where to get a new bolt from! Once again very many thanks for doing this so well. Liked and subscribed. 🙂

Great little format for tutorials mate. Excellent. I don't need to change my starter motor but watching helps me learn the engine. Any more hdi vids up your sleeve? …preferably the 306…
