Liamautomechanic says:

good, you can also put in a wee shim between the bearing and axel shaft, to remove the free play.if the axel has more than 4 mil wear, its usually a recon axel.job.

Anders Nielsen says:

the idea is good enough to renovate, the problem is if you only change the bearings and shaft polishes up, it takes about 2-3 months before you have the problem again. (talking of property experience).
One has to change the axle itself as the bearing turns on if it is to keep in length.
you can get loose axles to squeeze in on Ebay at an affordable price.

Liamautomechanic says:

that vid will be uploaded tomorrow, on how to, all you have to do is take off both sides and the one with no hole will slide out with the antiroll bar attached on to the plate, in other words, you must dismantle both sides.easy.

Oleywear says:

Hey, one question!
At 3:30 you put a 12mm bolt into the axel to loose the plate. on the other side of the car, the axel has no hole in this plate to put a bolt into it, what is to do?
Thank you!

Aaron Macruairi says:

Thats our next operation.

axxelrobv says:

The people who designed this system were complete idiots.

D McNamara says:

Zerk grease fitting is the way to go(in a spot to service)….and filled up with Marine trailer bearing grease. It’s bullet proof preventive maintenance.so the bushing and bearing won’t get worn-out or seize up again in the future. Like Peugeot used to do with their torque tube and U-joint bushings for their RWDs

Hannu Kitinoja says:

And when the car has been running for twelve years,it is not so easy at all 🙂
I had to use a ten kg sledgehammer, and it took out of my breath.
Now I have a Japan car ,Subaru Imbreza,no problems, nothing, just drive and fill up the fuel tank 🙂

Liamautomechanic says:

u have to remove the locking washer, knock it down from the 2 o clock position towards the 8 o clock position, then remove it,

Liamautomechanic says:

auto factors, or go to e bay, or main dealer,

john thompson says:

where do u get the bearings thanks

Shobby01 says:

i don’t understand what i got to do with the washer from the tension bar.. move it up and down to ublock it? or what?

Liamautomechanic says:

there usually very tight, its a sledgeing job , u need a good old sledge to batter the arm out wear safety glasses and a good pair of gloves, batter in then out, it will then come out, its usually tight on the torson bar, a real huir to get out some times, but it will move all right.good luck.

cliff harvey says:

Hi Liam, great videos but I’ve run into a bit of a problem. I’m trying to take off the drivers side arm, everything is disconnected on both sides as per your videos but I can’t remove the arm no matter how hard I hit it! The bearing is shot and it moves around a bit so I suspect it’s the torsion bar stuck solid in the arm casting, are there any tricks to getting it to shift?

Liamautomechanic says:

remove the.left.,cap,first.pass.side.

Liamautomechanic says:

dismantle.the,left,side,first,ie,cap.with.12.mm.screw.the.right,side.will.then.pull.through.with.the.long.torson..and.cap.atached.simple.ok.good.luck.

Loddestuen says:

You just cannot refurbish destroied bearing surface with sandpaper and an angle grinder! You wil have to change the alxle studs.. You cant just sandpaper every bearng tollerence! Arrg.. Jesper Holm, Denmark

TheRozzers says:

Handy instructions, thanks.

I think you shound ask Santa for an hydraulic floor press for Christmas lol ;o)

Liamautomechanic says:

i had to figure that wan meself. easy enough. had to scratch me head, and figured it out. i did a few old 405s similar operation.

Excellent Video! I’m an experienced mechanic, but having never done pug beam before it was really useful to see how the plates come off with the m12 bolt. Thanks, saved me mucking about for ages trying to figure it out!

TheDrunkenLeprachaun says:

Thanks. It good to see someone that knows what there talking about and doesn’t mind telling you a few things. To many people wouldn’t tel you anything unless you were paying them to do the job for you.

Liamautomechanic says:

the auto factors should be able to get them, thats where i got mine, two different types, both bearings are the same , only difference is the outer seal/ cover, one is steel and rubber, peugeot dealer only, the type in the vid, and the other is a steel cap, looks like a frost plug, the bearings are the same,

TheDrunkenLeprachaun says:

Nice one man thanks. Havnt striped it yet so i dont know. I got a price off peugeot in naas 120euro for bearings for one side.(Would any bearing manufacture have r make them?)I also got a price of 400e for recon axel and i give him d old one. It not my car so i have to see what she wants to do.Only price she has ben given is well over the 1000mark so she trying to avoid that anyway

Liamautomechanic says:

aye, as long as the shaft is not too badly damaged, u can also change the whole axel, but if not too badly worn, a set of bearings does the trick, set bearings is 36,00 euros, a recon axel is about 800,00 euros,

TheDrunkenLeprachaun says:

Good videos you have there man. Is it a big job to change the shaft on them 206 Axel’s when you have it striped down as far as you striped that one?Would you normally get away without changing shaft? Thanks.
