HOW TO: REAR BRAKES – Peugeot 106, 206, 306

HOW TO: REAR BRAKES – Peugeot 106, 206, 306

In this how to video; a guide to replacing your rear brake pads and discs.

Once fitted, please remember to test drive with some 30mph emergency stops, with some time in between stops for cooling and then steady braking for 250miles to permit them to bed in.

Specifically for a Peugeot 106, 206, 306, Citroen ZX, Xsara, Saxo. …

However these brakes can be found on a number of Citroens and Peugeots.

This is not a comprehensive guide for all types of brake system or all methods. Just the basics to get you going. Hope it proves helpful.

There are other methods and you may have other ways you prefer. That is fine. Just keep it safe!

Sorry did not explain very well, used your video to fit new discs and pads and that's all fine, but was wondering if you had knowledge of the ABS sensors that bolt through the bottom of the trailing arms, both have the sensor hole uppermost with the retaining bolt below, on the nearside wheel the gap to the reluctor ring is approx 2mm but on the offside wheel its around 20mm. If I was to turn the sensor 180 degrees the gap is approx 2mm but now have nothing to fix to. can send pictures if you like. Regards, Rob

Thank you for this video it helped me a lot, but I have a question regarding the abs rear sensors, I have a difference on the air gap from the sensor head to the reluctor ring, on the left hand rear its 2mm but on the right its more like 20mm any ideas

I noticed the number stamped on the caliper 331561 they are made by Bendix. I have these type of calipers on my Marcos V8 – please could you tell me the exact model of car this is ?? do you know if its a 30 or 31mm piston as i am needing to fully recon them .

thanks for this nice video ! Cannot find your video about the handbrake on disc brakes

Chris Miller says:

Hi! I love your video but I'm having an issue fitting the pads into place. The caliper won't slide at all so I tried removing the two bolts at the back and that helped me get both brakepads into place. However, when I fasten the bolts up the outer pad clings stuck to the disc making it unable to spin at all. Any tips on what I might be doing wrong?

Bob Morton says:

Handbrakes not working after fitting new cables. Ive adjusted it in car, ive pulled the pads out the caliper and you can push the piston in with your fingers? if im right shouldnt it screw in? So im thinking the spindle inside the caliper that the piston goes on has possibly snapped? If i pull the handbrake arm on the caliper it does nothing, the piston does not move out at all.

7:17 If you caliper doesn't slide well, how you can clean your guide screws.
I have see it in front brakes and its very easy.

But I have doubts how to do it in rear breaks.
Do you know any tutorial video how can be do it?

Chris Niby says:

Thanks for the video.

Though, you don't have to disassemble the caliper, to get the disc off.

I just replaced all 4 brakes, and just got the discs off on both sides of the rear, without removing anything from the caliper, apart from the pads.
