I really think there should be a lot more women mechanics. I’d trust women more to follow the instructions to the letter as regards proper installation. Seen a mechanic change brake pads before and like fuck did he use copper grease. I’ve seen so many mechanics cut corners and take the lazier option.

HI top vid!! Can you please let me know what you used to remove the brake disk from the hub?? Star bolts or an allen key tool? Many thanks

yellowlellow07 says:

Funny how the cameraman scrambles the camera just as the pads are being put in!

zazarays says:

im doing my 1999 f150 for under 200$ plus rebuilding the calipers myself. 100$ for both front rotors 10$ for the dust seals 50$ for pads 10$ for the shims 20$ for caliper seals

Fay Notts says:

Go to euro get pagid or Delphi they are oe spec they make a lot of the brakes for the manufactures

Looking to change front pads and discs. Can anyone recommend any decent budget parts? thanks.

Charles Swan says:

Excellent video. Hoping to attempt this at the weekend. Thanks.

Fay Notts says:

Make sure that the Bolts holding the disc are out, and smash it with a hammer then Sand the hub down and apply copper grease to prevent it sticking in the future

DonSimonUK says:

Do you not need to take off the wheel bearing? I have a Peugeot 206 1.6 GLX 2000 and discs properly bonded. So just hit it with hammer?

Fay Notts says:

Copper grease is heavily used in the automotive industry. Its not only used for brakes. It is used as a assembly paste to prevent corrosion. The reason i put copper grease on the back of these pads is to prevent brake squeal as this happens with metal to metal contact (piston on to the back of pads) I also used it on the side of the bads as it prevents them from seizing in the brake carrier. You may of seen me smacking the brake pad out of the carrier becuase the person before did not use it

Fay Notts says:

OILSTARVATION!! you are right about cleaning the discs before you put the pads on. But these discs are made by Pagid and they instead put anti-rust paint over the disc hence the reason i did not because it gets rubbed off after the first few yards of braking. If you are using another brand of brake disc then please clean them before using them as they are coated in oil for rust protection.

OilStarvation says:

Clean the disc with brake cleaner BEFORE you put the pads on it – it’s coated with greasy stuff and you don’t want it on the pads. DON’T touch the pad surfaces with your greasy hands – same reason. Clean the lot again once it’s assembled.

And above all don’t use copper grease. At all. Ever. Why, oh why, oh why are you smearing that shit all over a set of brakes?
