I like this design, no need to remove spindle and bring to the machine shop
the press in. Nice Tutorial.

David Capps says:

When are people going to realize you don’t need to bleed the brakes after
you take the caliper off….

Michael Anthony says:

Would my 04 F350 be making a metallic popping noise if my wheel bearings
were out? The sound only comes from the front driver side. The sound only
gets worse when I drive faster. I have taken off my tire, brake system and
hub cover and have been having trouble taking off the 4 bolts near the
universal joint but am wondering if its even the wheel bearings.. When I
turn it on a stand I don’t hear any major noise but when its rolling down
the road it sounds terrible

john mills says:

It’s an assembly, not an individual bearing. A lot of vehicles have this
type of combo now.

Mike Nielsen says:

All ways great advice. Thank you for posting up your videos!!!

ICEGTN says:

try microlon wheel bearing grease ;)

john mills says:

It’s a hub bearing assembly.

shawn kramer says:

This video is absolutely wrong! DO NOT USE AN IMPACT WRENCH to put the axel
nut back on. Follow torque specs!

AwakeDude911 says:

at the end if you aint bleeding you didn’t fix it !

MattsMotorz says:

Hey everyone, I don’t mean to spam but I recently started a car repair
channel. All videos are in full HD and include transmission overhauls, and
some other repairs. My channel is small right now but you guys could check
it out and maybe subscribe that would be awesome 🙂

Richard parnell says:

that easy”, ok like I wasn’t going to pull out my hair…

Matt Wyatt says:

Its a hub and wheel bearing assembly. Bearing is already pressed onto the
hub.

thunderstruckter666 says:

stop going to cheap places that do fast work with no quality and everything
will change. People just talk about mechanics like they are a bunch of
retarded goofs but they are the ones who don’t want to pay to get a good
quality job. And then they go on youtube talking trash about how these
so-called morons don’t take the time to properly fasten every nut on their
cars.

ebu touy says:

wooo, easy people! why in the hell you guys so effin bitching about the
torque, i bet your effin torque wrench is not calibrated. FYI torque wrench
needs to be calibrated every 12 months 🙂 So your bolt, nut, screw is effin
under torque or over torque! so what is the effin difference using the
impact! the only difference is, those guys is experience mechanic and have
tonnes of experience using air tools and they do it everyday.

Kronaphasia says:

Sure you can buy air tools & a compressor but how many people have access
to a garage equipped compressor with a 120 or more gallon tank capable of
putting out 250lbs PSI. Also how about the garage hoist used? The point
about DIY auto repair work is that you are avoiding the “garage” & making
due with what you have. Using garage equipement that people would normally
not have to convey a DIY message is disingenuous.

Darwinion says:

So where’s the wheel bearing change? All I see is a hub replacement.

jh3835 says:

yah i can do it with a $100 bearing remover kit from harbor freight. i wish
mine was this eazy.

Aaron Haas says:

You MIGHT have to tap it? I spent 30 minutes with a 3lb hammer swinging at
that bastard. It came off though. Otherwise this is all legit. Just looks
easier. I had no lift either… 2004 Silverado

Santa cruz 831 says:

What about torque on tha axle nut. Love your videos u have lots of
experience thanks for all the info

The87wing says:

yeah man, now that axle nut is torqued about 150 ft/lbs more than it should
be!!! job security for moe larry and curly

thunderstruckter666 says:

And just to tell you, i just replaced a front wheel bearing on my chevy
aveo and the torque for the front axle nut was 221 ft/pounds of torque. I
don’t think that tightening it with an impact gun that gives about 300
ft/pounds of max torque will blow it in pieces or risk my life in any way.

CNNPacific says:

3:54 YOU COULD DO IT

therboy1245 says:

Thats for abs cars and if you do use the breaker bar its befor you take off
the tirer…

TheBullyRam97 says:

is that what cause it to wobble on the high way ???

SPIDER says:

looks like this truck will be due for a replacement soon with the way they
mashed the hub with that impact..

Kronaphasia says:

600 ft lbs you are entering garage tool territory. That gun starts at
$145.00 on good day & requires a minimum flow rate of 4.8 CFM @ 90 PSI
something a 8 gallon portable compressor cannot produce. Even a compressor
tank twice the capacity would have a difficult time keeping up.

alusk22 says:

Thanks for the video guys. Truth is some people only know how to hate on
others. These mechanics were simply trying to make this process easier for
those of us that wanted to try it on our own. Torque your nuts as much as
you want. If you ask me, you torqued them a little to tight. Thanks again.

hydrocutty says:

is there any vids on here of an old norther truck bearing take off? im
tryin to see a hub puller in action,i know ive spent an hour plus broke 6
screwdrivers poppin them things out(thank got craftsman free replacement
and dont ask questions lol) i wish they was all this easy

Sebastian Gonzalez says:

…yes but the bearing is bad

silvertip69 says:

Thats the problem with mechanics. You dont have to drive that same car day
after day. Once the job is done its in the customers hands. How would you
feel if you had a firearm you needed to protect yourself with and that
machinest just torqued and beat the crap out of thet gun…..will it go
boom? Hell I work on fire alarms, maybe Ill just beat the shit out of the
wires and horn strobes and that way the alarm will break sooner and I wont
be there to see people get burned up. Its peoples lives.

cotaman7 says:

Not that it really matters, but that is not a 1991 Explorer. It’s a 2002 to
2005 (3rd Gen) Explorer. Ford did not start using those hubs until 95. Also
it did not start using front struts until 2002.

Nick Myers says:

I love air tools.

Kronaphasia says:

Good intentions, however very missleading. Next time you make a video for
the do it yourselfer DON”T USE ANY AIR TOOLS. Lets see you get that 250lb
torqued wheel hub nut off using hand rachet tools & a minimum amount of
swearing. Unfucking believable. Seriously WTF were you thinking.

Slider68 says:

When I change them I always torque everything to spec. With the SL2 you
have to change the actual bearing itself so care has to be taken to not
damage the bearing when pressing it in. I don’t have a press so I use a 20
lb sledge – BUT I always make sure to carefully support the knuckle and use
a large socket on the bearing so the load only goes on the outer race (not
through the bearing). Then when pressing in the hub I support the inner
race and load the hub (again no load on bearing).

hyperwarrior says:

very easy explanation!!!
