This is a simple replacement of a worn out alternator. I am working on a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero 2.2 L 4 Cylinder, but the repair is the same for the Chevy Cavalier and the Saturn Ion and the Pontiac Sunfire as long as it is the same engine size. Also possibly a Chevy Classic and Grand am.
I used a 13mm for all 3 bolts and to remove positive battery connection. I removed the radiator hoses for better access using needle nose pliers. The clip is in somewhat of a difficult spot, but it can be reached. I suggest using a flat head screwdriver. This 3/4 ratchet is used to pull on the belt tensioner. This was a simple job and took about 20-30 minutes to uninstall and around the same to install. Thank you for watching! Love You!
You should explain where the wire off the post of the alternator goes and how to relieve the tension off the belt. You can get it off w/o using the tensioner but getting it back on is a whole different story.
Proud of u nice to see more lady mechanics. Nobody see's us
Take the tire off and drop it from the bottom
My alero is a 2003 but will this video still work for me ?
Better to not say anything than to say something bad , but I was looking for somebody who knew what they were doing
No info here
Very helpful ty!!!!
Well I just think your an awesome women, plus beutiful. Thanks for the help.
Good job most women scared to get dirty
Also, I noticed in list of tools I put 3/4 instead of 3/8…no one pointed it out.
How did you manage to get the tensioner belt loose? I tried to get a 3/8 ratchet in there to loosen it but the gap is a little tight, wasn't to do it with a breaker bar either. I saw a video that suggested taking off the wheel and panels but that sounds like a major pain.
