hey, all together how many hours did it take you to do the alternator if
you wouldn’t have broken the radiator? i have a friend asking if i would
replace an alternator in the same engine, but not sure if it will be too
big of a job for me to take on, iv done plenty of alternators but never on
this vehicle. if u used a youtube video or online site could u send me the
link? ur the only one i can find! really appreciate it! thanks!

I blowed a gasket on da same motor how do i rreplace it! need a video!

James Blodgett says:

Head gasket? I never changed one before.

James Blodgett says:

Little over an hour the 2nd time, sorry I forgot to tell how long it took.

James Blodgett says:

The new alternator went out on me & the part store replaced it. I had to do
this job all over again only this time I didn’t hurt the radiator. The
mistake I made was I didn’t take the battery & tray out. To do this job you
have to take out the fans, top motor mount, thermostate housing, battery &
tray. I think you can do this job. Post a comment if you need anything. I
didn’t see anything to do this on the web.

James Blodgett says:

The only tray I took out was the one the battery sits on. One time in 1991
I got a 1978 Pontiac Bonneville with a Buick 350 for only $150. They saw
oil in the rad & I took it to a shop & it turned out to be the trans
cooling lines inside the radiator, shop told me all I need was a rad. So I
replaced it & it was fine. Not sure if thats what is wrong with yours. If
it looks red most likely it is.

by chance do you know how i can change the red wire that runs from the
alternator to the battery?

James Blodgett says:

Yes I know, I would even give myself a dislike. Well I guess it is what it
is.
