You don’t have to, but you can if you want to. Just collapse the caliper slowly so that the fluid doesn’t spill out of the brake reservoir. You want to wire brush where the brake pads rest against. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Did you have to remove or loosen the brake fluid resevoir cap before using the c-clamp? Also, where on the caliper did you use the wire brush?
HI Steve, Sometimes with the amount of heat brakes can have in them they become welded to the hub, usually you can bang them free with a hammer if they don’t break free.
No unfortunately the rears are different than the front.
the front looks like the rear, will the front calipers fit the rear mount?
You can use an 8in C clamp and up.
What size c clamp are you using?
You can compress the caliper as shown in the video with a C-Clamp.
Is it acceptable (ok) to push the fluid back into the reservoir (using the c-clamp) or should you use a brake bleed kit? A friend recommends that I purchase a brake bleed kit, but you didn’t mention that, in your video.
Thanks for the great videos.
Great video! Thank you so much!
The rear should be rotors and pads. We sell some grear replacement brake rotor and pad kits for your 99-04 Oldsmobile Alero on our website 1aauto.com or call our sales line @ 888-844-3393
The rear is shoes or pads?
