Richie Johnson says:

Scotty, LONG time fan here, first time comment. I have a celica with the
same, or similar 1.8 1zz in it, shes got 180k miles on her, but still purs
great, she has the p0300. Replacing my MAF helped for a few days, but
every once in a while when i pull up to a light the idle drops almost to
about 600rpm and then i notice the computer compensating, but then it idles
unhealthily till I give er gas. Ive got the P0300 and the corresponding
P0304 and P0302 codes. She burns some oil and often has black soot on her
rear bumper, so the fourth code 🙁 is a P0420. And Toyota also diagnosed
the catalytic converter as bad….Where do I start!!!??!? Could the cat be
causing the misfire? Ps, Already did plugs, air filter, cleaned tb, and
replaced MAF. – Frustrated Toyota owner

Hey what about 1995 chevy blazer. .I have the same problem.

Clyde Hammett says:

98 chevy malibu, shakes and wont accelerate fast. Changed spark plugs,
changed battery, changed coil housing, changed MAP sensor, what else can I
possibly do?

Gannon Stewart says:

Hey Scotty!! Great videos man… I’m a DIY guy all the way and I always
check your stuff first. Got an 03 Taurus reading codes P0316, P1131, P1151,
and OF COURSE P0300. Seems to be misfiring at idle and at low rpm’s when I
hit a hill or whatever. Other than that, no apparent problems such as fuel
injectors or vacuum lines. All seems solid, but the check engine light is
on and has been on for roughly two days since it started acting up four
days ago. Gotta get my MawMaw’s car back on the road asap. Many thanks for
all your to-the-point tutorials and of course I could really use a heads up
or two before I start chasing this dragon if there is one. Keep rockin’
man!

Timmy Briseno says:

1984 Chevy Cavalier, 2.0 TBI. 64k miles. New Plugs, Wires, fuel filter, oil
change, oil filter, and air filter. Cleaned the throttle body out and
injectors serviced. Still misfiring and shuddering when its IN GEAR and my
foot is on the brake. if i do this for a while (2 mins or so0 the check
engine light comes on. When its in neutral its fine. Any advice?

Fred Mercado says:

Can a bad battery also cause a car to idle poorly and stall out when cold?

corneda20 says:

Hello Scotty, can you please help me with an advice?
I have a 2006 Daewoo Nexia, GM (Vauxhall) based engine (A15SMS). When i run
it constantly over 3000 rpm, check engine flashes. P0300 is the code.
Changed spark plugs and wires, tried a new coil pack, cleaned cam and crank
sensors, checked compression (14 on all 4 cylindres), checket tappets ok,
new timing belt which is mounted correctly, new gas filter. The error still
apears under given circumstances. When check engine flashes, no particular
symptoms are felt. The car runs normaly, it has power and does not have any
particular symptoms. If i restart the engine, the light stays off until i
run it again constanly over 3000 rpm. The battery is ok. Thank you.

East17A says:

does PCV valve cause effect that triggers the code P0300 ? because i have
both codes show up ( P0171 – PCV Valve) and ( P0300 ) – the make of my car
is 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Coupe 3.0L V6

spenky says:

Hi Scotty! I keep getting the P0300 code and none other while the car is on
the move. Also the car jerks a lot while it is on idle. I have a 1.6l
Chevrolet Lacetti (Optra in some countries and Forenza in USA but I think
Forenza has diferent engines). I was told that the problem could be sticky
valves. Do you think this could cause the P0300 code? Shouldn’t I get other
error codes if the valves would be sticking?

Karen Castro says:

I have this combination of error codes p0705, p0141, p0301, p0303 and
p1399. What to your knowledge do you think it could be? I have already
replaced the spark plugs and wires also the distributor. Still misfires.
Replaced PCV Valve. No vacuum leaks. I’m stumped. Please help! !!!

Terrance Conner says:

Have a 2010 Chevy Impala 3.5 started having some jerking and some
hesitation. Had it checked p 0300 came up random misfire. Had the spark
plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, all fluids changed, new oxygen sensor
and new belt. Had the code cleared after all that was done. Car is still
hesitating and jerking had it checked again but no codes came up. So now i
feel stuck i don’t want to get throwing parts on and not fix the problem. I
first notice the problem after i had a aftermarket in dash dvd player with
add on navigation installed.

warrenlikesboats says:

Started my 2004 GMC Sierra when it was -30 c had very little fuel in it,
drove over to a gas station and put in 15 liters….. drove for an
additional 15 minute averaging 60kmh until engine light started
flashing…. pulled over to an idle and noticed the Engine was throbbing
at low revs, and the error code is P0300. Noticed the next day that BLACK
splatters are sprinkling out of the exhaust when applying throttle , the
smoke itself is white… keep in mind its still -28 c .. the exhaust will
appear white due to the outside temp anyways. Hoping maybe something in the
fuel system needs to thaw out so Im gonna park it in my garage and heat the
truck up.

ricardo picena says:

I own an 04 Audi a4 1.8l. I’ve taken it to the dealer because it was my
last hope. No one wants to work on it but I understand because it’s a
foreign car. Now the problem now is electrical.

jessie morales says:

Great thanks

Princezz Doom says:

well i guess my car doesnt do so good in the rain, its much better now.only
thing that i think might have caused it, was that 1 of the plugs were loose
from the distributer cap. so maybe water or dampened air could have passed
through there

Shaaba Durant says:

am i trippin or did I see this dude just use a socket with a spark plug

Alex Roque says:

hey scotty , my 01 honda civic is throwing this code and i putr a scan tool
and it says its running lean to rich i dont know what that means but it
also has code p0421 and im cuious if its the o2 sensor that its causing
this p0300 code

Elias Mendoza says:

I have a 96 suburban, I just changed the spark plugs and wires, rotor,
distributor cap, gas filter pic valve and I am still getting the p0300

veli korkmaz says:

the worst parts is having bad valve or your pistons are the problem, or
your chain might slip or your cam position sensor so on and on, alot of
things causes missfireing these are the simple ones you check to begin with

Jose Echevarria says:

Good video. I have a Honda civic 2002 with this code p0300 and problem was
bad coils. I bought a set on eBay and turns to have two bad coils sold as
new ones but they became bad in a couple of days. Put my old coils back and
no more problems. This code could be also bad fuel injectors or clogged.

TxBlack Label says:

2000 4.3L Silverado 245k miles on it with P0300 errors that had terrible
idle, poor acceleration, and several cranks to start. It drove terrible in
the city, okay on the highway. Ran vacuum test on the fuel line and it
failed (thanks Scotty). Replaced the (newly redesigned) spider-injector,
fuel regulator, and all upper intake gaskets. Runs like new. For the
mechanically inclined it’s about a 3 hour replacement.

andrew french says:

hi scotty, got a 2002 pt cruiser, new plugs and wires, at idle it quivers
off and on, slight misfire, got the code today po300.. car runs great when
driving, had this about a year, and its allways done this, not a smooth
idle.i erased the codes, after awhile driving its fine, starts fine, but at
idle same off and on idle quiver, schould i change the crank sensor and the
coil pack as a start? it has new timing belt and water pump 2 years ago. it
has 166,000 miles, its a clean car and well taken care of. please let me
know on this quiver idle its driving me nuts bud, thanks andrew

aznlilchino103 says:

My P0300 problem ended being a double whammy. I changed the plugs on my
Mazda 3 at 75k with Iridium Plugs without changing the Coil Pack. At 125k
I had the misfire P0300 so had to go into the engine bay. I ended up with
2 plugs were fouled and the coil pack was burnt. Scotty how often does the
problem point to a ignition coil?

juan carlos Eleta says:

Mr Kilmer, I got the same code in my buick century 96, do I have to do
a diagnostic test in the shop or I can just take to a mechanic and get it
fix??? I’m asking because I dont want to pay for the diagnostic.

karla ortega says:

Thanks scotty! i hope my batteryis the problem… i spent a lot of money on
a mechanic who hasnt been capable of fixing this problem 🙁 is this really
hard to fix or am i getting ripped off?

GundamZero5 says:

well scoty i got this code on my 03 gmc serria i did the cap adn roter

im also wondering is there any fuses that can be checkt for igtion i did
have the parts guy sya hay u might repalce that any who ill check fuel
filler i did that 5 years ago maybe over do thanks

Joelwee1028 says:

Thanks, Scotty! I have a 2002 YukonXL 6.0L V8 that started misfiring a few
days ago. I went out and started checking the spark plugs this morning, and
then I noticed that one of the coils had somehow come loose from the spark
plug. I plugged it back in and started the engine, and it runs fine. That’s
what I’d call a “stupid” problem, but at the same time, I’m glad it wasn’t
something really complicated.

fernando mendez says:

You tha men scotty!!!thanx!!

alpja1 says:

humm what should i do I have P0300 P0301 P0302 P0303 P0304 all together
