it’s probably too late now, but it should go in once you’re past the dash.
The brace in the engine compartment may be in the way. I think I put mine
back tighter with only one of the braces screwed back on.

I really needed to see how you got the core in. I got mine in but it does
not seat all the way in. It goes far enough in to attach the hoses but then
I can’t screw the braces back on.

Wish I had seen this about a year ago. I broke the shroud and found another
in a junk yard. Going to try to fix this myself and save about $220-$250.
