Hi , This work was done almost 12 months ago and I have had no problems at all. EBC may advise against use of copper slip as unfortunately some people may be daft enough to put it on the wrong side. I have been very impressed with the EBC pads and dust is almost none existent, just a road film at wash time so it was well worthwhile investing in these pads. I’ve never had any issues, or noticed any cross contamination on to the disks or pads in the many years I have used copper slip.
I guess he got it checked out fully, but if the sliders don’t slide easily it could put uneaven pressure on the bearings when braking. That said it may just be conincidence.

In my friend Pathfinder, after replacing the brake pads, hub bearings fell apart. I do not understand this. the brakes have an effect on bearing???

Hello , very usefull how to , but one remark . EBC strongly disapprove of using any copper grease on pads and the rear of the rotors . Do you experience any jiggle when braking or is everything fine ? (because u used a lot of grease behind the rotor ) .

Sorry I don’t recall the bolt size but it was a simple socket fit rather than having to go out and buy something just for the job.. what a refreshing change! Hope your swap went well.

Hi, yes this is a 4×4 version. I couldn’t tell you if the 2 wheel drive version is any different, I don’t think we have them in the UK, never seen one. The only difference I could see for options when ordering was for 290mm discs for the 16 inch wheel, and 310mm discs for the 17inch and bigger wheels. If you have a 2×4 then just pop the wheel off and have a peep, I’d be surprised if there is a great difference to be honest.
Was this a 4×4 model? Does it make a difference?
LOL! Will do, I’ve just had the pain of removing the door mirror, maybe when I put it back together I’ll do a recording. The lense on the side repeater in the mirror was cracked when I got the car. Unbeknown to me the lense filled with water and frazzled the LED circuit.. new one on order but what a mare to get apart… oh and I bust the mirror in the process…grrrrRR!!! :o)
Thanks Guys, this was one of the simpler vehicles I’ve done the brakes on but its definately worth sharing, besides by the time they are due I’ll have forgotten how simple it was myself ;o)
Half the battle is degreaing the disc / rota when installing. The surface of the pads need a little time to bed in to the disc, after which the pads will contact as much of the surface of the disc as possible. Just be mindful that the brakes won’t perform 100% for the first few miles. Its probably more relevant if you are just changing the pads and not the discs as the discs surface will be uneven. No a major issues when both the pads and discs are changed together.
