Nissan IPDM & Engine Relay Diagnostic Tips and Tricks

Nissan IPDM & Engine Relay Diagnostic Tips and Tricks

In this video I show the steps and procedures I use to properly diagnose a bad IPDM And a bad engine relay. IPDM Stands for intelligent power distribution module. And Nissan uses them and all of their vehicles to control all the electric functions of the vehicle including the ECM. The ECM or engine relay or sometimes referred to as ignition relay is located in the IPDM. A bad engine really can give you a no start condition. As well as low power condition, also a stalling condition where the engine turns off unexpectedly. A bad eye PDM can give you issues with your wipers, headlights, AC compressor, condenser fan, and various other electronica components in the vehicle. When you purchase a intelligent power distribution module from Nissan it will come with a brand new AC relay and all the fuses already installed for you. I hope this helps some of you out. if you have any questions or comments feel free to leave something In the comment section and make sure to check the links in the description for the parts and tools are used during this video. hi! I've a Nissan Nv300 1.6 145cv x82 2017 (van), and since some electrical problems I had with the charging system back in december (fixed), my front wipers are not working. According to my mechanic, he tested the wipers motor, the relay and everything seems ok… he saids that may be some electronic module… so I really want to do this IPDM selfcheck. The problem is that this VAN has not any "door" button that you can just press. Do you know how to do it in a VAN without this simple button? Ntw Thanks a lot for the video!!!

You're kinda hosed if you're needing to jump a fuel pump relay. Since there isn't one.

Thanks for your video. I have a 2013 rogue. The vehicle will not start after it’s parked for 10-20mins. It will only start after 30min. I think it’s a IDPM problem. It is possible to reprogram it or I have to replace it? What’s your opinion?

Hey… nice video…I have an Armada 2006 which suddenly the rear door do not open electronically, passenger window don't works, any of the locks only open/close with the alarm beeper.. I thought that replacing the power module can fix this, but now I see you mentioned some different things that can cause different issues… Any idea? Thanks in Advances!!

Great vid. I have a 2011 frontier throws a maf code but after i replaced it, the engine light went off and it ran like crap for about 20 mins then the engine light came back on and the truck started to idol and run just fine again. Could this be a bad ecu relay going out as you mentioned in this video?
