Good video! I was doing a normal spark plug change on my 05 xterra until i pulled out a oil drenched plug :/ this video is definitely gonna come in handy!!
In case this repair doesn't fix it, what else could cause oily plugs? I'm just trying to cover all bases
Thanks!

this is probably one of the best how to videos I've seen for repairs/replacement. Bravo and thank you much

Great video – super easy to follow. Can all that burnt oil / sludge accumulate from missing just one oil change by 2k-4k miles or is that probably more from years of missing oil changes?
I'm a little worried about my engine possibly looking like that — I stupidly forgot to change the oil for about 2-4k miles & noticed that the oil was barely registering on the dipstick (I'm guessing it turned to sludge) & then I overfilled it by 1.5 – 2 quarts. Then i noticed my mileage dropped from 21mpg to about 15mpg, so I drained it all out (completely black) & refilled it with full synthetic. I put a little seafoam in the oil also & now I'm getting about 17-18mpg. Man, I hope I didn't screw up my engine & permanently reduce my mpg's.

Jason Knowles says:

Do you have to drain the oil before changing the valve covers?

Glyn Fricker says:

Why would you replace the valve covers only?
