hey 1aauto guy i had a question about a 1990 honda civic and the sport
light wont turn off it just flashes i tried to turn it off but no go. all
the gears enter but it struggles in the first gear when its at a full stop
the idle goes up and down in first gear but when it shifts to second it
runs fine the car only does it in first gear at a full stop but when you
slow down and dont stop fully it shifts fine in first any suggestions thanks
you dont think it could be a sensor because the sport light wont turn off
it just flashes i tried to take it off by pushing the button but nothing
happens
Sounds like your transmission is giving up. Check the transmission fluid
level. If it is low then adding transmission fluid may help.
The issue sounds like you might have something going on with the
transmission. Your best option at this point would be to bring it to a
transmission shop and have them check everything out for you.
The issue with the first gear would need to be looked at because the
transmission might be going into a limp mode when the light is flashing.
Without it being diagnosed for the issue by a transmission shop one would
only be able to guess at the issue.
It will be similar but the parts will not be the same.
i have a question. my 1998 honda accord 4 cyl jerks. after coming to a
complete stop, it jerks. when i accelerate from a stop, rpms will go up,
but the car won’t really move. all of a sudden, the rpms will drop, and
then it sounds like something catches, and it lurches/jerks forward. to
mitigate this, when i accelerate and i feel/see the rpms go to 4k, i’ll let
off the gas, let it drop back down and then step on the gas again.
You may want to check the EGR valve to see if it’s working okay. Sometimes
when they stick they’ll cause an irratic idle or your vehicle to leap
forward while you’re at a stop. Hope this helps you out.
will this fix work on the ’99 models?
