How to Install an Injen Intake/0-60! (2013-2019 Nissan Sentra)

In this video, I show how to install an Injen short ram intake on my 2014 Nissan Sentra with a few revs and a 0-60 at the end. This intake should fit on all 2013-2019 Sentras with the 1.8L (MRA8DE) engine, whether CVT or manual.

*FYI, I don’t say this in the video, but make sure the bottom of the filter is about a 1/2 inch to 3/4 of an inch (about an index finger width) from the top of the fuse box. Reason being is so the filter isn’t hitting the fuse box or bottom of the hood (thus causing a rather annoying sound) while the vehicle is in operation.

According to the link, this intake now costs around $270. Granted when I bought it, it cost around $240 but I still believe this intake is worth the price. (Also, there are other links out there that sell the same intake for less, just Google search)… *UPDATE (9/10/17): I just found out that the Injen intake is now priced at about $230 on the website. Also, there is a true cold air intake from AEM now available for the 1.8L B17 Sentras! Who knows, I might just buy it and do an install video on it..

Injen Intake Pros: Reasonably priced, looks great in engine bay, sounds great under acceleration, has reusable and durable air filter which doesn’t require any oil and very easy to clean, intake very easy to install, personally noticed better throttle response and a bit better acceleration (so a bit more horsepower).

Cons: Personally noticed absolutely NO change in gas mileage whatsoever. (If driving conservatively, however, a slight gas mileage increase should be possible.)

*Note: Before I installed the intake, I was averaging 27.2 mpg. In the 0-60 clip at the end, it shows 28.9 mpg. Since then, I drove around 5,000 miles and the mpg returned back down to 27.2 and has stayed there since…

My verdict: Despite not seeing a gas mileage increase, the Injen intake is still worth the price because it’s made well, looks and sounds good, improves performance, and NEVER needs the air filter replaced..

Basically, this is a pretty cool video. I pretty much didn’t finish the whole thing though. Basically, I’ll pretty much get back to it a little later.

Adrian says:

late comment but does this apply to the NISMO addition as well? I just bought a sentra nismo as a fun on the side car and was seeing if the aftermarket parts are the same across the board for all Sentra trim levels of this year.

I have a ‘15 Sentra S 6spd, might give it a try

No Gods No Masters says:

Why did you put a cold air intake on a NA motor? The power added would be like 2hp at best. Even on a forced induction motor it is still around 5-10 if your lucky. Also, that is not a cold air intake anyway. You are still drawing in air from the hot engine bay… You probably lost power.

Josh Hawn says:

CVT's Suck and waste gas and create wear on the engine. I got a 2016 all black, Manual Trans. the Air boxes on these cars suck too, my Driver side headlight Circut went out and i bought this car with 0 miles i replaced the clutch master cylinder twice in a year and it vibrated on acceleration due to a broken air box clip. They suck to work on, no engine room. I wish i woulda got a Toyota Camry.

Mark Nylund says:

Why are all those videos with a CVT. I have the stock 1.8L ( not turbo ) M/T and would love to hear what it sound like when shifting gears.

dkp212 says:

I would bet money that he actually lost some of the little of the horsepower this car has by installing this intake.
