Randy Long says:

I have a 2001 frontier, 3.3l. The crankshaft position sensor was attached
to the tranny. When I pulled out the tranny, I accidentally ripped the
sensor off (I didn’t realize it was there). Now, I have to get a new sensor
AND the wiring harness wires have to be re-crimped (I hope I have enough
wire left to do this). This clutch replacement has been pretty tough.

Javier Puentes says:

Great vid! Thanks buddy, this will also be usefull for Navara (diesel
engine) guys like myself.

G Parker says:

BigPopaLuis, probably 2. my 2005 has one for the left side and one for the
right.

J Carlos says:

Hi, do you have any info to replace the coolant sensor?

Eric Rodriguez says:

Aaron Johnson says:

Glad that I could help!

Et Snyder says:

I am replacing the crankshaft position sensor on a 2000 Nissan Xterra. On
that model I’ve tried going through the wheel well, tearing out a break
line and another vacuum line. My personal choice is to take out the front
drive line one the front and access it from underneath.Don’t break the
electrical clips, that will send you down a path that Nissan doesn’t make
parts for. Get at least 2 diagnostic opinions on it. Parts stores are the
most economical.

Aaron Johnson says:

Cool man, thanks for the tip

Adam Owen says:

Thanks for the video!

Ab Fesso says:

What if I have bought a crankshaft sensor and when the new one is placed it
doesn’t start at all. Returned the new one to the store and got another new
one and still doesn’t turn on with the new sensor. I place the old one and
it turns on. However, with the old one My car from time to time turns off
when I’m driving and takes a while to turn on. :/

UhndeadGuerilla says:

Thanks for the video! Checked the forums trying to find the location with
no help, dealer wanted 240 to do this…got the part from Napa for 25

Aaron Johnson says:

Oh yeah. The Xterra and Frontier are exactly the same, and the only
difference with the Pathfinder is the rear suspension from 2005 – 2012.
Thanks for the feedback

Aaron Johnson says:

That’s great man! Glad that I could help

Jon doe says:

thanks for this video $23.+tax at autozone and under 2 hours later all
done. couldnt have done it with out this video

Aaron Johnson says:

Same thing here – have the codes checked – if they match mine then you’ll
know. Watch your temp gage as well. If you’re overheating then your
radiator is bad and possibly leaking fluid into the transmission as they
are known to crack where the tranny cooling line passes through. The
obvious tell is if it sounds like your driving on rumble strips, but your
temp rising and falling is a good indicator. Bypass the radiator and
install a new one, then have your tranny flushed before it costs you big.

Aaron Johnson says:

So did I, which is why I wanted to alleviate the pain for everyone else

Aaron Johnson says:

No problem!

elfailo76 says:

Thank you for taking the time and posting. 🙂

dustwillkese says:

I have an 05 xterra and it shuts off too but mine starts right back up and
once the engine cools the vdc light and the slip light goes off. Once it
goes off then i have to worry about the engine shutting off while im
driving again untill it trips the sencer once it trips and the lights are
on then it don’t shut off while driving. Is that what yours did?

Aaron Johnson says:

You’re welcome!

BigPopaLuis says:

How many camshaft sensors does the Nissan Frontier 2007 have ?

Tara Poloskey says:

great video and tips- you saved me from wasting valuable Sunday time.
Thanks!!!

Kirk Guenther says:

Hey Aaron, this was great for my 2005 Pathfinder also. You should change
the title to 2005 Xterra and Pathfinder, as the video is so identical you
could not tell the difference. Saved me a lot of time find this video also.
thanks for your effort!

Aaron Johnson says:

No problem!

Xoskel Offroad says:

Gil Wolf says:

2:D

smolik292 says:

Thanks, it really helped!!

Xoskel Offroad says:

Thank you for making this video. my Xterra just threw this code an hour ago
after a hard start.

Aaron Johnson says:

That’s a strange one. The best advice that I can give is to have the codes
checked to be certain that the crankshaft positioning sensor is indeed what
has failed, and to buy directly from Nissan IF the replacement didn’t come
from there. Though unlikely, it is possible that the parts you purchased
came from a bad batch. The diagnostic codes are accurate, so if PO335 is
what you got, then get the sensor from Nissan and try again. Make sure that
the harness is seated snugly as well.

TheThewer says:

Thanks for the video! You saved me $150 and it was very easy. I

amynoacid says:

Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. It helped me
out and so far the xterra is running fine.

Xoskel Offroad says:

Ok, just so you know I found this video looking for PO340 solutions and a
website thought this video was relevant, it is in a way but if you ever
need to change the Cam Sensor instead of the Crankshaft Sensor then you
will not be having a good time. Most of the work will be done blind as the
sensors are behind the engine under the valve covers. The Camshaft sensor
is a a cakewalk comparatively. I would have shot a video but it would have
been of no help, its all blind work, by feel.
