Even though this coordinator watch, but I learn slot of thing From content.
Great job!! 🙂 Buddy.

Charlie R says:

Based on the amount of time it took to find this problem you most likely
would have gone in the direction of the intake leak if you had used your
scanner to look at freeze frame data and watching your fuel trim,
which would have helped you a lot. Your fuel trim would have been adding
fuel at idle and you would have seen the trims come closer to normal when
you brought the RPM’s up to about 1500. This would have led you to look for
a vacuum leak much sooner.
There was nothing wrong with what you tested since all of the items could
cause a misfire, but the fuel trim is a great tool to use early on. I like
the way you systematically isolate the problems, and I hope I can pick up a
few tips from you.

Geoffren Hernandez says:

how come u ddnt check the cylinder pressure on that cylinder 4

cynicky says:

Awesome thoroughness and explanation.

Is it just me or does this has more suspense than most of the crap on tv
nowadays?!? What a pain in the ass. Well done Eric! Learned a ton

Scott J says:

once again eric you really should buy paul danners book, scannerdanner,
seriously bro, real diagnosing! dont feel to proud man, i know you love his
videos

MacSpunkmeyer says:

No. 😉 I watch his videos when my dad actually needs to fix something, and
i have to translate for him cause he only speaks spanish, and when i watch
them alone is for the fun of it, cause i really wanna be a mechanic.

NFor22 says:

continued…..i have checked the compression and it is fine. the only
thing i can think of left is the distributor pickup. what would your guess
be?

NFor22 says:

i have 95 f150 5.0 and i have a miss fire at idle as well. i have replaced
all ignition (wires, control box, plugs, distributor cap and button, coil),
checked for vacuum leaks and cant find anything, i have also taken the
intake plenum and throttle body off and cleaned them as well as replaced
the gasket along with cleaning the iac valve. i did have a wet spark plug
with gas so i replaced the injector(fixed the wet plug). Fuel pressure is
good as well as the Fuel pressure regulator.

Appreciate it!

some19872003 says:

the thing i learned about early 80’s to late 90’s nissans is they have bad
map sensors. i had to replace them 3 time in a 84 300zx turbo i had and 2
times in a late 90’s sentra. also once in a 2000 maxima

Fred Shead says:

i see you pinched off the return ok lol, you can as far as i know check for
12 volts at injector feed and put a Noid light across the 2 terminals with
it running and watch the light flash, see it switching…Fred.

sirreal6 says:

Eric Dude…I find myself watching your vids on cars I don’t even own. Your
vids are interesting and informative. I have a 14 year old Nissan and find
myself fixing things here and there. You have helped many times…thanks

Fred Shead says:

Hi Eric, I saw a clip on u tube where someone hot wired the injector, with
a fuel pressure gauge on, when the injector was powered (open) the fuel
pressure dropped right down, realing it and it went right back up again,
putting injector in the fuel system to try to clean the injectors ot, well
it usually just goes back to the tank…Fred.

Is it ok to relocate 2 knock sensors to avoid ripping half my engine apart.
My car is a 1997 Infiniti Q45t. TY for your time

TJjeeper69 says:

Great video Eric. Thank you sir!

Michiganborn1969 says:

Excellent video. Those Altimas especially the 2.5 seem to be everywhere out
here in Cali. Dime a Dozen seems like. Last year when we were looking for a
replacement for our ’96 Accord that got totalled, we took a ’06 Altima 2.5
for a rest drive and loved the power & performance. The car wasn’t in our
budget and ended up with an ’08 Kia Spectra. Also a good car but would be
better if it haf cruise control.

Jahan Zeb says:

This was very nice step by step video. Really it is a bad time to diagnose
a car and give couple of hours to it to understand and repair the problem.
Some times when it is caught easily, it is a matter of good luck. Regards,

Greg Rus says:

Hey Eric what do you suggest in the 1990 Acura Integra for fuel injectors?

jajupa78 says:

My personal experience with obd2/GM as follows; p0301-0308 misfire codes
almost always means the ignition system i.e.coil, wire, plug, air leak post
side of MAF;) and of corse the dreaded mechanical mis. p0300 random miss
code means fuel system, injector, fuel pressure, pluged egr passages,
cloged cats, usually the fuel pressure is on the low side of good, the
system goes lean=super hot exhaust gas/burns up the cats. At least this is
the case with GM vehicles.;)-GM master tech bout 20yr’s in..ugh

rb26dett32 says:

Is that sound the alternator or the power steering pump whining? I just
replaced a timing belt and water pump on my civic and it’s making that kind
of sound now but it wasn’t before. It doesn’t really do it much at idle but
when you give it gas it get’s louder 🙁

socheath sao says:

Anytime you get misfire first thing you do is hookup vacuum gauge. That was
rookie mistake

Andrew Thompson says:

This is a good example of the venture effect. Biggest leak when no. 4
sucks. Fuel trims etc may have have not been too bad. Spark wires were
marginal. Good to clean the injectors now and then. In all good work.

Dusty Foster says:

I have the same motor in my 2000 altima had the same problem I replaced the
spark plugs and wires and the rough idle stopped

estrelladelnorte1308 says:

very nice, i like that you showed that even with all your experience things
can be missed.

mike withers says:

good video, although you went about the misfire the hard way. I always
first look at fuel trim to check for problems first. fuel trim can
determine a vacum leak. Also second in order would have been a compression
test. I would of recomended the wires and cap though. both looked to be a
potential problem.

panzerveps says:

1: I’m already a technician with 5 years experience, and far from a kid. 2:
You ask “why” to “I hate when you go the wrong path during is diagnosis”.
That is a very stupid question. 3: I know perfectly well why Eric does what
he does, and why he’s one of the best (if not the best) youtube technician.
If my english isnt good enough for you to understand, I’m terribly sorry.
English is my 3rd language.

morpheus232001 says:

LoL @ “you probably won’t ever read this”. Surprise!

Dr_b_ says:

that engine is really clean looking for a car that old

jay gresso says:

carbon buildup seems common on the 1.6 and these parts look to be
interchangeable good times when the rotor is welded to the shaft

Astro Scope says:

thanks Eric, your the BEST!

NullH3ad says:

Hey Eric. I gotta say, I’m a fresh out of college technician working at a
Chevy dealer and I’ve encountered this exact same problem before. But let
me just say this. Your scanner is capable of reading live engine data,
correct? You should have looked at fuel trim before you even stood up out
of the driver’s seat. You would have had a clear battle plan right away. A
lean running condition, with a MAF code and a misfire screams vacuum leak
before you even open the hood. Thanks for the videos!

Isaac De Leon says:

@ ericthecarguy since ur a mechanic how much would u charge to change a
