i could not reach the bolt on the back of the power steering pump. The axle
is on the way. Any tips?
It seems to be completely inaccessible, but I generally use a flex head
14mm ratchet wrench (just for convenience). I believe I’ve gotten it done
with a regular box end wrench before, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You
could also use a long extension and a swivel to reach it from underneath,
but I don’t know if you’d have enough clearance on jackstands.
The washer pump and wiper motor are both powered from fuse 20 (labeled
‘WIPER’), a 20A fuse in the interior fuse box. The pump is then grounded by
the BCM when you pull the wiper stalk backwards. If your wiper motor works,
you know the fuse is good. Check for power at pin 1 of the washer pump, and
a ground signal at pin 2 when you pull back on the stalk. You could also
just run jumper wires and power it manually, polarity doesn’t matter for
testing.
You don’t have to remove the wheel, but it makes it much easier if you
don’t have a lift. There should be a splash shield in that fenderwell, mine
is long gone. IIRC, it’s just a clip and a bolt or two to remove.
It really depends on what exactly it sounds like. Belt noise and power
steering pump noise are generally two very distinctly different sounds.
Check the belt and make sure it isn’t loose, you could also spray the belt
down with a lube and see if the noise goes away temporarily, if so you’ve
narrowed it down. I’ve found silicone spray to work well for a quick belt
diagnosis.
@snowboardfreak5264 The PS belt is the rearmost, so yes, you have to remove
the AC/Alt belt first.
Did you take the wheel off? Did you have to take off panels?
Did you have to take off the serpentine belt for this?
hey i have the same car every time i turn the steering wheel wile driven it
makes a sqealing sound wat dose that sound meen is the belt loose and just
to be tighten up or is the power steering pump bad???? need help
The washer pump is a pretty easy DIY, though you may have to pull the RF
fender liner back in order to gain access.
There’s no water and no pump sound when windscreen washer is activated. Is
there a fuse for this or will I need a new washer motor? Is it an easy job
to replace as I can’t see it anywhere? Question not relevant to this video
sorry.
