Fun Fact- in the color footage of the Japanese aircraft after the surrender, they have their props removed because there was a valid fear that some pilots would refuse the surrender order, basically steal a plane and commit unauthorized kamikaze attacks against the American occupation forces when they began landing, or the actual surrender ceremony aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay so part of the negotiations at Manila was an American demand that the Japanese disable their aircraft.
