MITSUBISHI X Force 2024 Compact SUV !

Hey Guys, The 2024 Mitsubishi Xforce Isn’t The New ASX Yet
Although it’s the right size, the Mitsubishi Xforce isn’t quite ready to replace the venerable ASX crossover just yet.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Xforce was unveiled in Tokyo as a new ASX-sized SUV for Southeast Asia.

But despite being the right size to pick up the baton from the now 13 year old ASX for example like in Australia, the Xforce hasn’t been locked down for a local debut as it’s been built to meet the standards collision and more lenient emissions from markets such as Thailand.

Mitsubishi is expected to make a decision on what will replace the ASX before the end of 2023. It is currently weighing a version of the Xforce that has been upgraded to meet European standards, or a rebadged product within the Renault-Nissan Alliance. -Mitsubishi – probably a Renault Captur.

At 4390mm long, 1810mm wide and 1660mm tall on a 2650mm wheelbase, the Xforce is 25mm longer, 20mm taller and the same width as the current ASX, on a shorter wheelbase of 20mm.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing 77kW of power and 141Nm of torque. It is mated to a CVT automatic and is front-wheel drive.

Inside, the Xforce has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display and an 8.0-inch driver’s display, the former of which can be configured to mimic the off-road gauges of the legendary Pajero off-road.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as you’d expect.

Mitsubishi says there’s room for 21 (!!) 600ml bottles around the cabin, and the center console has air conditioning to keep your drinks cold on hot days.

Wireless phone charging functions, plus USB-A and USB-C ports for front and rear passengers.

Trunk space figures were not provided, but the rear seat folds 40/20/40 to make more room for bulky items.

Given its focus on developing Southeast Asian markets, Mitsubishi says the Xforce was designed with a smooth ride in mind.

It has a ground clearance of 222mm, in line with a Subaru Crosstrek (220mm), and approach and departure angles of 21 and 30.5 degrees respectively.

The current ASX, which accounted for more than 15% of Mitsubishi’s sales in Australia in 2022, has been on sale locally since 2010. It’s had several styling and technology updates, but now has around five years beyond the point where most vehicles would. be replaced by a new car.

If it were to be discontinued, the Eclipse Cross (or its replacement, which is coming to at least some parts of the world) would be forced to serve locally as the entry point to Mitsubishi’s SUV lineup. Currently, the ASX sells for twice as much.

If not to bring a version of the Xforce to Australia, Mitsubishi might be forced to sell a rebadged Renault Captur as an ASX. The Captur is currently sold in Australia, so it meets local emissions and safety standards, and it is built in right-hand drive.

The challenges Mitusbishi faces with this approach, however, are twofold.

The first is to convince its Alliance partner at Renault to build the rebadged right-hand-drive Captur for Australia in sufficient volumes; the second is to sell it.

The Captur is a fundamentally different vehicle to the current ASX, competing at a different price point. Mitsubishi is moving upmarket with the Outlander SUV, which is bigger and more expensive than the car it replaces, and is expected to do the same when the new Triton is launched.

But the heart of the ASX’s appeal is value. The current lineup costs between $23,990 and $34,740 pre-road, where the Captur starts at $31,800 and stretches up to $41,300 pre-road.

Mitsubishi has also been previously burned with rebadged Renault products in Australia.

The Express van was a rebadged Renault Trafic introduced in Australia in 2020 by Mitsubishi and discontinued in mid-2022. Shortly after its launch, it was slapped with a zero-star ANCAP safety rating due to lack of safety features. security assistance now common in rivals.

Despite this, Namiki-san is confident buyers will favor a rebadged Alliance product bearing the ASX badge as long as “the product itself is good.”
